I'm sure it takes a little longer than usual for the hydration to make
it all around the body...  ;)   Dry mouth is usually exacerbated by it
being open, too... for which the best they often offer is ice chips or
swabs to moisten the mouth...

I first remember noticing it when a young adult...  White meat chicken
was the first culprit, but that was more just spasming of the esophagus,
rather than the epiglottis getting confused... I don't remember any of
it going way back into childhood... but it's been pretty much there for
most of my adult life...  I suppose that it's possible for some
conditions to be present all along, but only get strong enough to be
noticeable later in life... and if it is gradual enough, might be
unnoticed for quite a while...  The epiglottis thing and the esophageal
spasms don't happen all the time, just whenever...  ;0  Dunno if they
are getting worse with age, either... I've probably subconsciously
learned ways of avoiding some of the possible incidents... ;)
