Hi Nancy,

..rotten vegies..

Heh.. really.. there is only one twisty, windy road in to Ithaca, and in
extreme weather I can understand how deliveries might be slow.

Yep.. obviously they haven't been at this Wegman's in Ithaca.. :(

I remember the Wegmans in Binghamton surely having large amounts of "local
farm" produce in the spring and summer, for sure. I'm curious to see how much
this Wegman's in Ithaca will have.

Yeah, know what you mean there. I bought a decent sized freezer (not huge)
when my daughter and her boys were living upstairs in Windsor, so that freezer
takes care of the overflow from my 'frig's freezer now.

> can make a lot of sense to buy that way... If the options force you to

That order was great.. we use wholeshare.com.. quality meats, no antibiotics,
etc.. and you could order how much you wanted.

There are two ways of doing it with this 'co-op'.. you can order your own large
order or you can start an order and have other co-op members in your group
split it with you. Recently, my daughter and I split an order of olive oil (2
3-liter cans each), plus I ordered 5 frozen whole free-range chickens (no split
started). That beef order was great, and we've just finished that pretty much
(maybe there is another steak or so left in the freezer)... It was initially 4
T-Bone Steaks, 3 Porterhouse Steaks, 1 Boneless Chuck Roast, 2 Bottom Round
Roast, 5 Short Ribs, & 10 lbs Ground Beef for about $300. I still have one
chicken left.. and it did save a lot of money since normally in Binghamton I
was buying only grass-fed beef, and free-range chicken from the counter at
Wegmans.. that is insanely expensive, and even more expensive in the Ithaca
Wegman's. I guess I'll make another order like that in a month or two..
something like that.

That's good.. but yes, ice can be nasty.. your area does seem to get more of it
than we do..

Yes, peas go in after St. Patricks day, so that is coming up thank goodness :)

> Do you have a miniature greenhouse set up

nah, we've been too busy with getting the dishwasher in (still have some more
parts to get for that), etc. We'll get there eventually though.

Take care,
Janis
