Nothing major - a chance of rain or rain/snow mix. But, it's 36 at 5 ayem
headed for (depending on whose forecast you pay attention) either
38øF/41øF/46øF and a low in the upper 20s. Got to 63øF yesterday. It's acting
more like early spring should - IOW. No idea when last frost will be. But,
then, I'm not on the farm any longer -- or even raising a garden other than a
couple chilies in 25 litre buckets, which can be brought indoors if
sub-freezing temperatures threaten. And those aren't planted yet. Just the
buckets procured (from my favourite Chinese restaurant's detritus) and planting
mix/gravel/etc. in place.

Oh, yeah. I always tell people I can always put on more clothes. But, there's a
limit to what the law allows one to do without - especially outside.

Uuuuuhhhhh, don't look now but soybeans are a grain also. And, yes, they do
make a reasonably decent sauce from fermented soybeans. Also tofu (which I
don't eat except as an ingredient is Oriental dishes) and edamame (I think).
Most of my soybean consumption comes from eating animals which were fattened up
on soy products. And the occasional Jack-In-The-Box hamburger which used to use
soya grit as a stretcher for the real beef. To the point where the unadorned
"meat" patty put me in mind of school cafeteria burgers.

      Title: Tofu Burgers *
 Categories: Vegetables, Sandwiches, Chilies, Nuts, Sauces
      Yield: 8 Servings
 
      1 lb Tofu; drained, pressed
    1/2 c  Tahini
      4 tb Sunflower oil; divided
    3/4 c  Spanish onion; fine chopped
      1 tb Dried dill weed
    1/2 c  Sunflower seeds; fine
           - chopped or ground
    1/2 c  Bread crumbs
      2 tb Tamari
           Cayenne pepper
           Whole wheat flour
      8    Whole wheat rolls

           Tahini
           Alfalfa sprouts
           Spinach leaves
      2 md Tomatoes; sliced
           Tahini Dressing
           Ketchup
 
  Michelle, a past cafe worker, created this recipe. She
  entered it into a tofu recipe contest at our local natural
  foods store and won. The prize was a tofu cookbook, which
  she gave to the cafe.
  
  Tofu burger mix freezes well.
  
  In medium-sized bowl, mash the tofu and mix in the tahini
  until smooth.
  
  In a small pan, heat 2 tablespoon of the oil. When the oil
  is hot, saute the onion and dill weed until the onion is
  nicely browned, and add to the tofu. Mix in the sunflower
  seeds, bread crumbs, tamari, and pepper, adding more bread
  crumbs as needed until the mixture is firm. Using 1/2 cup of
  the mixture per patty, form a patty, and dip it into the
  whole wheat flour, coating both sides.
  
  In a clean frying pan, heat the remaining 2 tablespoons of
  oil. Fry the patties over medium heat until browned on each
  side. Serve on the whole wheat rolls, with the tamari,
  spinach leaves, sprouts, and tomato slices, and the Tahini
  Dressing or ketchup on the side.
  
  Makes 8 to 10 burgers.
