We've had to replace at least one stove and several fridges in military
housing. Neither one here, but did replace the dishwasher a couple of
years ago, and the garbage disposal.

But that kind has really helped my parents in the last few years. Beat
their former way of Mom doing them by hand & not getting them clean.

Ours is running as I type. It gets run either every day or every other
day, depending on how fast it fills up.

Nice thought tho, if you'd have really been into cooking & baking.

The old "thump" the loaves of bread to see if they sound hollow, use a
toothpick to test cakes & quickbreads, etc methods still work.
Casseroles and such like, just do a rough figure. 30-45 minutes at about
350 is usually good there. After a while, you just sort of know how long
to set the timer for.
