People do, though.  They're crazy, but they do.  Crocs might be a better
bet 
in that case.  You can get closed toe ones and they just slip on. Guy clogs 
with socks aren't the best fashion statement, but they're relatively cheap 
and easy on your feet. I use a pair as slippers, since they only come in
too 
wide and way too wide, but slippers with arch supports are a good thing.

It's what they use on plaster casts and the like.  The plastic could 
probably be old supermarket bags or something similar.  The paper tape is 
easier on your skin than the other kind and ought to hold long enough to
get 
in and out.
