======================
Hi Ruth,

-> -> RH> I have a few of those stories too. A bronze cat necklace always
-> RH> I was about ten. Maybe 11. Apparently even as a kid I had good
 RH> taste. At least in jewelry.(LOL)

-> At that age I never had the funding. A few years later I started baby
-> sitting and had my own funds from that.

 RH> I think my dad bought it or something. It was probably a whole dollar
 RH> or something similar. They weren't expensive.

And Dad wanted to get something for his cat loving daughter...........

-> RH> Phew! I've been watching for word on that. In the meantime, if he
-> RH> can't use the heat pack, you sure can! They're great for warming
 RH> up a cold bed if nothing else.

-> Don't need to worry about that; he came home this afternoon. Hurting
-> like anything and moving slower than molasses in January (in Alaska) but
-> home, none the less.

 RH> And now in bed and staying there! I don't think a heat pack will work
 RH> through that brace, but it can always be used elsewhere.

He's up and about; it's better for him to keep as active as he can. We
took a short walk (around the circle) after lunch; the walks will get
longer as he improves.

-> RH> That makes sense. I've never liked cabinets that don't go all the
 RH> way
-> RH> up. It's impossible to clean up there and if I had them it would be
->  RH> Spider Haven.

-> OTOH, we'd rather have that kind of cabinet so we can stow stuff on top
-> of them. Don't see too many spiders either.

 RH> You're fortunate. I used to get a lot more than we do now, but when
 RH> we used
 RH> the fireplace they used to come in with the wood or something. I
 RH> still get some little gray guys.

Better them than the jumping "wolf" spiders that can scare the living
daylights out of you. (G) I've encountered my fair share of them.

-> RH> It would be; it works on hot dogs. Cheese works better, but
 RH> mustard
->  RH> is good too.

-> As long as it's not the plastic cheeseoid stuff, tho that does go well
-> with cheap bologna on white bread. For that, the classic yellow mustard
-> has to be used tho, not the spicy brown. All American junk food.

 RH> Emphasis on the junk. I do get a yen for the fake cheese once in a
 RH> while, mostly when I can get it free or close to it. Then I remember
 RH> why I don't eat it - if they have to label it food, it isn't.

Before Steve went in the Army, we were on Food Stamps for a while. That
was in the days of occaisional government give aways; one day we got a
notice to come and pick up some cheese. I got to the pick up place and
it was the imitation velveeta stuff. Had to take it, 15 pounds worth,
and couldn't freeze it so we used it up as fast as we could. Never have
bought any of it in the years since.

-> RH> Good enough. If it works, go with it.

-> That's my philosophy when it comes to anything technical, computers or
-> otherwise.

 RH> If you're not a programmer or electrician, it's the norm.

I'm neither, more of a designer.

-> RH> pretty cheap. Beats using propane tanks too, hands down.
->  RH> Great-grandma's spare stove was ...coal-fired.  Ugh.

-> I'd like a gas stove but this place is total electric. Maybe the next
-> place we move to will have one. Nice thing about them is your heat is on
-> or off instantly; you don't wait as long for the coil/burner to heat the
-> pot and it cools off quicker when the heat source is turned off.

 RH> Old school electric burners took forever to heat up and forever to
 RH> cool down. They make closed burner gas stoves now but I don't have
 RH> one of them. It's easier to see how high you have the gas with open
 RH> burners.

Yes, and you can crank them down so that there's a bare minimum of a
flame & put a heat diffuser under the pot to create a super low
temperature. Been there, done that.

-> RH> Poor kitty - didn't know what she was missing. If you can't pest
 RH> the
-> RH> humans you can't have any fun.

-> She was my lap kitty tho, enough of a nusiance to work around at times.

 RH> One of mine won't jump on me at all; the other one only does when she
 RH> wants something badly.

Which is how often?

-> -> Double whammy; you can't even take full advantage of your own rice
 RH> bags.

-> RH> I can use one on my shoulders, but wouldn't dare go further down.

-> OK, I get the picture.

 RH> It's not so bad; the computer does nasty things to my shoulders
 RH> sometimes.

I work off a net book, sitting with my feet up, on our love seat. Much
better for the neck & shoulders.

-> -> It was, didn't disappear like the pound cake but still was well
-> -> received.

-> RH> It'll do. Man does not live by pound cake alone, but by every
-> RH> cheesecake that proceeds from the ovens of God.(LOL)

-> Reminds me of my freshman year of college, one of my friends got a
-> package from his mom. It had some books he'd requested, with some
-> cookies and a note--"Man does not live by food for thought alone; he
-> needs peanut butter cookies".

 RH> Amen Mom! I had a meeting a church this morning. I brought a small
 RH> salami, ome crackers, a bottle of soda ...and cheesecake.

And nothing came home I presume.
