Yes, but I'm still having some pain in my right leg that seems to be
aggrevated if I sit too long. I saw the doctor today. He was pleased
with the progress and said that the grafted bone was knitting together
fine. When I told him about the leg, he said that he was not surprised.
He had to do much more extensive work on the right side than the left so
the nerves have more recovery to do. It should get better with time
though.

One good thing is that he said it would be okay for me to do limited
driving in and around town. No long trips. As long as I keep them to 10
or 15 minutes, I should be okay. He said 20 to 25 is the limit for now.
That rules out trips to Raleigh or to other further places, but does let
me drive to my next appointment in four weeks.

Some times are better than others. The worst is at night when I am not
doing something to distract myself. I still need the stronger
medications then. That too will change with time.

I hope and pray so. I am not sure what would happen if Ruth were to
increase her carbohydrate intake. I think the thing that is allowing her
to avoid insulin is to limit the carbohydrates. I'm really proud of her
discipline. I am not sure I would be so good at it.
