One of their better ideas (among many good ones) is the "plumber's T-shirt"
(AKA long-tailed T-shirt). I you have even been subjected to the rear view of a
plumber (or other) bending over or squatting to do the job at hand you will
appreciate that such are available. And they are less expensive and less messy
than butt bondo to plaster the cracks exposed.

I gave up on Minit Rice type things and boil-in-bag stuff long ago. I have a
rice/vegetable steamer that works well. And I have worked out a stove-top rice
(pasta, too) method that is pretty fool-proof. (no cracks from elsewhere that
I'm just the fool to prove it.  Bv)= )

Just put the rice and water in the pan and bring to a boil. Boil hard for a
couple of minutes. Remove from the heat and cover. Come back in 15 or so
minutes, remove the lid, fluff the rice and serve. Timing is for white rice.
Brown rice boils hard for about four minutes .... and sits longer - I don't
have the timing down on brown rice exactly - yet. 

For pasta - boil the water first, add the pasta and proceed as for the white
rice.

      Title: Quick 'n' Dirty Red Beans & Rice
 Categories: Rice, Beans, Chilies
      Yield: 4 servings
 
      1 tb Butter
           Salt & Pepper
      1 c  Long-grain rice
      1 tb Oil
      1 c  Fine diced onion
    1/2 c  Fine diced celery
  1 1/2 tb Red beans and rice seasoning
           - mix
           +=OR=+
  1 1/2 tb Italian seasoning mix
      2    (15 oz) cans red beans;
           - drained, rinsed
           Hot sauce to pass at the
           - table
 
  This recipe is for red beans and rice in a pinch and
  doesn't aim to be authentic. If you don't have red beans
  and rice seasoning mix, you can add a bay leaf, half a
  chopped green bell pepper, and cayenne pepper and dried
  thyme to taste when you cook the onions. Serve with heated
  and sliced andouille sausages or hot links, such as
  Pipkins Pit BBQ sausages, produced in Vallejo.
  
  Place 1 3/4 cup water in a medium saucepan and bring to a
  boil with the butter and salt to taste. Stir in the rice
  and reduce to low, then cover and simmer for 20 minutes.
  Remove from heat and let rest 5 minutes.
  
  Meanwhile, heat the oil in a large saute pan over medium
  and add the onion, celery and spices. Saute until tender,
  about 8 minutes, stirring regularly. Stir in the beans and
  one cup of water. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a lively
  simmer and cook until most of the water evaporates but the
  beans are still saucy, stirring occasionally, 10-12 mins.
  Season to taste with salt and pepper.
  
  Ladle the beans over each serving of rice and pass the
  hot sauce at the table.
  
  Serves 4
