Something about the appeal of having fresh eggs regularly.. balanced,
though, by the thought of regular maintenance of said hens and
henhouse...  ;)  Living within city limits, it wouldn't even be an
option for me.

So then you'd need to cast a little farther... the grandboys,
perhaps...?  ;)

At church for Mother's Day, the men and young adults put on the monthly
dinner.  Richard was to bring dinner rolls, and decided, since we have a
number of gluten-intolerants in our congregation, to bring gluten-free
bread.  After consultation with a couple of those affected, he ended up
getting a loaf of Glutino's Fiber Bread from Wegmans frozen natural
section... We "test-drove" a slice before bringing it to church, having
stored it in the fridge (not the freezer).  Straight from the bag it was
ok, if a little crumbly... nuked for a little bit (maybe 10-15 seconds?)
it was quite good, with a nice bread texture.  :)  So off to church it
went.  Gluten-free and lactose-free, it was quite popular and there was
nothing left afterwards...  He used the microwave at church to heat it
before putting it out.  We have one family where the father and two of
the kids are quite gluten-intolerant, the one little girl was quite
pleased to be able to eat bread with the meal...  :)

Lately there have been a number of gluten-free options at our church
dinners, from casseroles to soups to desserts... not all cooked by those
normally affected... A nice, broadening experience for the whole
church... and I think of you at the sight quite often...  :)
