Sounds costly. But, apparently the theft of carts was enough of a problem to
make the cost:benefit ratio tip onto the positive side for the merchant. Our
local ALDI stores chain their carts together in a serial manner with locks on
the handle hooked to a chain attached to the front part of the lock of the cart
into which it is nested. A 25c coin is required to unlock the chain so that one
may use the trolley. The quarter is returned when the cart is returned to the
queue and re-nested and hooked back up. Pushing the uniquely shaped tang into
the slot on the lock releases the coin to be reclaimed. This has the dual
benefit of cutting down on casual shopping trolley theft and not having to hire
an employee to police up the abandoned carts from the out-lot and bring them
back up to the front doors of the store.

Of course, a derelict in need of a cart would happily pay 25c for a nice, well
maintained example. In fact, a policeman I know told me that one guy did just
that and when stopped and questioned by the gendarmes about having the cart
claimed that he bought it at the bargain price of 25c over at the shopping
centre. Ted said he and his sergeant were laughing so hard they forgot to
arrest the guy. But, not so hard that they didn't make him return it to the
ALDI for a refund. Bv)=

    1/2 Orange; zested
      3 tb Soy sauce
      4 tb Sunflower oil

MMMMM---------------------CHICKEN SKEWERS---------------------------
4 Chicken breasts; in 1cm pcs
      4 tb Sweet chilli sauce
      4 tb Soy sauce

MMMMM-----------------------LAMB SKEWERS----------------------------
1 Pkg Irish spring lamb loin
           - chops; in 1cm chunks
      4 cl Garlic; sliced
      1 Lemon; zested
      1 Lemon; juiced
      4 tb Sunflower oil

Prepare the Skewers: Prepare the vegetables and three meats
as described above and mix with their marinades. Marinate
for a minimum of one hour. Two hours or more is better.

Once marinated, build your skewers, adding a piece of
vegetable after every chunk of meat. Be sure to pack the
ingredients on the skewers tightly together.

  Season well with sea salt.

Couscous: Put the couscous into large bowl and add an equal
  volume of boiling water.

Cover in cling film and leave to soak in a warm place for 5
  minutes.

Using a spoon, break up the couscous until light and fluffy.

Serve on a large plate or bowl to create a bed for the
  skewers to rest on.

Cook the Skewers: Pre-heat barbecue or frying pan.

Lightly sprinkle oil on the skewers and place on the barbecue
  or pan.

Cook for 2-3 minutes and then turn.

Continue cooking for 2-3 minutes then turn again, turn
twice more until the meat is fully cooked through.

If you are a little uncertain if the meat is cooked, put
skewers on to an oven tray and bake in a pre-heated oven
  on high for 5 minutes.

Serve the cooked skewers on top of the fluffy bed of lemon
couscous and squeeze a wedge of lemon and orange over.

  Zing!

  Serves 8 to 10
