As I've never driven more than 15 or 30 minutes at a stretch
(nor at all for 41 years), 300 miles is mind-boggling to me.
Hence a commute of 10 miles or 1000 being all about the same
to me. I'd probably take the DC-3 across even if it took longer
rather than less time. You knew that.

The corporate business activity is still down, because the
companies discovered how to shave the corners during the
difficult times, and despite their having achieved record
profits, they're not eager to part with their ill-gotten
gains. And the poor drones who fly in coach continue to
fly in coach (on which the airlines don't make much; but
oddly, in international first, they don't make much either).

Beef Baked with Yoghurt and Black Pepper

Servings: 6

6 Tb vegetable oil
2 lb boneless stewing beef, 1-1/2" cubes
3 md onions, peeled, minced
6 cloves garlic, peeled, minced
1/2 ts dried powdered ginger
1/2 ts cayenne pepper or to taste
1 Tb paprika
2 ts salt
1/2 ts black pepper
1 1/4 c plain yoghurt, beaten lightly

Oven at 350F.

Heat the oil in a wide, flameproof casserole over a medium-
high flame. When hot, put in as many meat pieces as the pot
will hold easily in a single layer. Brown all the meat this
way, then remove.

Put onionns and garlic into the same pot and turn the heat
down to medium. Stir and fry about 10 min or until it has
browned. Now put in the browned meat as well as any juices
that might have accumulated in the plate. Also put in the
ginger, cayenne, paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir for a
minute. Now put in the yoghurt and bring to a simmer.
Cover tightly, first with aluminum foil and then with a
lid, and bake in the oven 90 min or until tender, adding
boiling water as necessary to prevent scorching. Stir meat
gently before serving. Serve with chapatis or another
bread, or with a moist rice pullao.
