There is a school of thought that additional products means
additional market share even if you compete against yourself. If
four companies have a 25% market share each and one of them brings
out a second line they might conceivably get 2/5 of the total
market. But only if the second line is or at least is perceived to
be as good as the first. Of course if everyone does it, the whole
exercise is self defeating and you have the added expense of two
advertizing accounts, two set of packaging etc. so there's a net
decrease in profits.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06
 
      Title: Tarragon Rabbit
 Categories: Rabbit, American, Dairy, Herb
      Yield: 8 Servings
 
      2    Rabbits, cleaned and cut
           -into serving pieces
    1/4 c  Flour
    1/4 c  Butter or margarine
      4 tb Vegetable oil
      1 lg Onion, diced
      4    Carrots, diced
      3 c  Veal or beef stock
      1 c  Dry white wine
      2 tb Tarragon, crushed
      1 ts Thyme
      1    Bay leaf
      1 ts Salt
    3/4 c  Sour cream
      2 tb Flour
      3 ts Dijon-style mustard
           Hot buttered noodles
 
  Rinse rabbit pieces and pat dry; sprinkle lightly with flour. In
  large skillet, heat butter or margarine and vegetable oil. Add
  rabbit, a few at a time,  and brown thoroughly. Remove and drain
  on paper towels. To grease left in pan , add onion and carrots;
  cook until onion is translucent but not brown. Spoon off any
  excess grease and return rabbit pieces to skillet. Over the
  rabbit, pour veal or beef stock or bouillon, wine tarragon, thyme,
  bay leaf and salt. Cover an d simmer over medium heat 45 minutes,
  or until fork-tender. In small bowl, combine sour cream, flour and
  mustard; mix thoroughly. Stir in a small amount of the pan gravy;
  return sour cream-gravy mixture to skillet and stir until
  combined. Serve with hot buttered noodles, if desired.
