Nope. We would need wide flat bottomed boats for that.

What we do is:

-1- Use helicopters for slinging containers and pallets from one
truck to another, shore to shore, up to Honda Civics, 2700 lb. max.
$250 per load.

-2- Train or truck to Hay river and then air to YK, 50,000 lb,
$20,000 per load.

-3- Stock up and wait patiently.
 
The river has now frozen north (downstream) of the ferry creating
another dam as well as south of it so now the water levels are
rising and the ferry is running again, hopefully continuously until
the first week of January when the ice bridge will be thick enough
to drive on.

The largest wheeled aircraft that I know of equipped with pontoons
or skis around here is a DC-3. But yes the Herc can be ski equipped.

We have large storage tanks for heating oil, enough for a one year
supply. But apparantly we don't have sufficient gasoline storage for
more than 30 days max and had about a 10 day supply (1/3 capacity)
when the surprise stoppage occurred. 

 ML> Of course with gasoline running out, there's an issue.

We have enough diesel vehicles including buses and vans which can
all run on furnace oil in a pinch to handle a real emergency.

I would have had to, if the outage had lasted much longer and if I
wanted to keep working.

For many years I've been eating young mulberry leaves off a coppiced
bush in my yard as a cooked vegetable (by the way, I've read some
nonsense about the liquid they're cooked in being hallucinogenic.
I've been using the broth from greens-cooking as soup stock for a
long time, and nothing interesting has ever happened to me as a
result.) I use them as a mild element in mixed greens. Recently I
saw dried powdered mulberry leaves being sold in capsules as a
source of resveratrol. I learned to use them a long time ago, but
other foraging enthusiasts that I correspond with seem surprised to
hear about it.
