Ärende: Seriousness
===================
Hi Dave,

DD> up the journey toward the conclusion. As for Georgia, she's the only
 DD> sister I have ...

RH> I take my health seriously; I've several issues that get monitored on a
RH> very regular basis. AFAIK, I'm the only one of my siblings that does
RH> see a doctor on a regular basis; I think the others do only in case of
RH> emergencies. I'm also the only one of my siblings that goes with a
RH> whole grains, lower salt, little sugar and please watch the fats diet.

DD> I just figure that life is a journey so I am going to enjoy the ride.
DD> No one (as far as I know) gets out of here alive. So, other than

I'm enjoying it but want to make sure I can enjoy it as long as I can.

DD> "normal" maintenance of the old body I don't worry too much. The only

Normal maintainence for me is a bit more work than it used to be.

DD> reason I even use Lite-Salt (50-50 mix of potassium chloride and
DD> sodium chloride) is because I got a container on a deep discount. I

I use seasalt but on a limited basis.

DD> don't worry about fats and the like. I do eat whole grain breads -
DD> because they have actual taste ... as opposed to Wonder Bread (If it's
DD> good bread, it's a Wonder) type stuff.

They definately beat the taste of white bread. Doesn't take much. (G)

DD> There are many, many, many cakes out there. Almost as many as there
DD> are people making them. The one I posted is one which is one of the
DD> better "dump and stir" examples. Even though Dave Sacerdote (where has
DD> he been lately) would call it too "Sandra Lee" it works very well.

RH> I like that name for the method. I've used cake mixes from time to time
RH> for specific reasons but would rather (and usually) do a cake from
 RH> scratch.

DD> I'm capable of it and have done so in past. But, I don't make many
DD> desserts. Usually the only time I make a pie, cake, or cookies is to
DD> take somewhere that I have been invited for dinner, etc.

We go fairly easy on them for the most part. They're not a 'must" as I
was raised (and my parents still do) at lunch and supper.

 DD> Title: Flourless Chocolate Cake
 DD> Categories: Cakes, Chocolate
 DD> Yield: 1 Cake

 DD> 14 oz Baking chocolate
 DD> 14 tb Unsalted butter
 DD> 1 1/2 c Sugar
 DD> 10 lg Eggs; separated
 DD> 1 tb Grand Marnier *
 DD> 1 tb Vanilla extract

RH> I had a piece of one of these years ago while we were in Frankfurt; it
RH> was good. Quite easy to do as well.

DD> This is the first one I saw that asked for booze (or substitute) in
DD> the ingredients. I've made flourless cakes a few times ... after the
DD> first they were fairly successful - if pretty fudgy. Especially if you
DD> put walnut or pecan halves on top.

I like having a sub listed if available. Saves my hunting down a "well,
this might work" sort of thing.

DD> Title: Honey Whole Grain Bread
 DD> Categories: Breads, Cheese, Nuts
 DD> Yield: 16 Servings

 DD> 3 c Unbleached flour

OTOH, I would use whole wheat flour here.

 DD> 1 c Cottage cheese
 DD> 4 tb Butter
 DD> 1/2 c Honey
 DD> 2 lg Eggs
 DD> 2 1/2 c Whole wheat flour
 DD> 1/2 c Regular rolled oats
 DD> 2/3 c Chopped walnuts

Otherwise looks pretty good.
