I'm sure there was some such, but at the long remove I recall
little, especially as it wasn't a subject that thrilled me to
begin with.

I seem to recall the engine being compromised through the
whole flight. It wheezed and clunked the entire time.

Since Premier and Mileage Plus are trademarks of UA, and
most here are aware of my travel patterns, it didn't
require much Sherlocicity to figure that out.

All parts can be transported neatly inside - one fuselage or
one or two wings or any number of engines. Did you know that
the diameter of the 787 engine is bigger than that of the
fuselage of a 737?

I wasn't completely joshing when I said something about
terrorist mechanics. And then there's the oft-pondered
issue of Chinese (and other) quality control.

Nope, and if there had been any, they'd have been well publicized.
The only potential terrorists I've heard of being caught have been
captured by the time-honored methods of legwork, espionage, routine
observation, and informers.

BUFFALO TENDERLOIN WITH PEPPERCORN SAUCE AND CARROT CHIPS
cat: main, game
servings: 4

8 buffalo tenderloin medallions (4 oz ea)
2 oz butter
Salt to taste
White pepper to taste
1/4 c George Dickel Tennessee Whisky No.12
1/4 c green peppercorns
3 c veal stock
1 c heavy cream
1 carrot
1/4 c green onion, chopped

CARROT CHIPS PROCEDURE: Preheat a deep fryer to 375F. Peel
the carrot and slice paper-thin. Deep-fry the carrot slices
until brown. Transfer to a paper towel and let drain. Season
with salt and white pepper. Keep warm.

BUFFALO TENDERLOIN with PEPPERCORN SAUCE PROCEDURE: Melt the
butter in a saute pan. Season the buffalo to taste with salt
and white pepper. Saute the medallions to the desired
doneness. Remove from the sautepan and keep warm. Deglaze
the pan with the whiskey. (Be cautious of the George Dickel
igniting instantly if using a gas range). Add the peppercorns,
veal stock and heavy cream. Reduce to half the original
volume. Serve the medallions in pairs topped with the reduced
sauce, fried carrot chips, and chopped green onions.
