Dec. 27th: Back to PR with Neekha, Charlee and Lexi.

Dec. 28th: on to Edmonton with just Charlee and Lexi, as Neekha was
heading to Fort McMurray again with Sheila and her daughter
Isabelle. Like I said earlier there had to be lots of logistics
planning so that everyone could visit everyone else. We spent the
next three days with Roslind's mom and step-father who got to see
Lexi for the first time since she was a baby (she's 5 now) and
Charlee who is 3 for the very first time ever. Step-dad Hank is
another good cook and as he is German and Olive is French their
Christmas leftovers were sufficiently different from the others so
as to not be a bit tiresome. We brought them an esky full of frozen
fish from my favourite YK fish monger topped off with game meat from
Ray's freezer which was welcomed warmly.

Dec. 29th: Raine and Lyle showed up to visit the oldsters and take
the little kids home. The parting was somewhat tearful for all the
women involved, all four generations.

Dec. 30th: We took Hank and Olive out to a Kelsey's bar and grill
which they enjoyed. I was underwhelmed though: it was typical chain
restaurant fried dreck.

Dec.31: A late supper with Roslind's friend Lilly at Edmonton's well
regarded L-2 restaurant. They had a special New Years Eve 6 course
tasting menu that was quite delightful: confit duck on a micro salad
with a daikon tamarind vinaigrette, lobster and crab bisque with
brioche, fois gras and pancetta linguini with peas, champagne sorbet,
for the main course a choice of blue cheese stuffed filet (Roslind's
choice and mine) or Chilean sea bass with chanterelles (Lilly's
pick) as well as a chicken dish and a vegetarian quinoa thing which
didn't get considered, and for dessert a wonderful little mousse
filled chocolate cake with a lemon coulis. Everything was superb,
with one caveat, all the dishes except the dessert were oversalted
for my taste.

Jan 1: back to PR for a last visit with Ray, but not Neekha or
Sheila as they were still in Fort McMurray.

Jan 2: an uneventful trip back home with a second meal at the Mirage
enroute. We hit them right at the cusp of their breakfast and lunch
buffets and nibbled on bits of both of them. A nice spread with lots
of variety. At Big River we stopped again for a quick bison burger
(ordered rare and received medium) and some great home made pie.

Jan 3: my 6 pound diet started. [g]
