Yep, but it seems to apply to major appliances.  Get a good quality basic
model and it'll run forever.  Get the fancy stuff and it dies in a year.

On the other hand, it's the one you "need" the least.  Dishes can be washed
by hand; it's a lot harder to keep milk cold that way.

The Tupperware set has those.  They're old, but they come in handy.

For me it depends.  If it's measured in TBs I use a tablespoon to make sure
what I'm doing matches what the writer did.

Normal spaghetti?  The dark sesame oil, calamansi powder (thanks Carole!),
Vietnamese fish sauce, sofrito, etc don't seem out of the ordinary to me.
I do have some chestnut paste hiding in the freezer somewhere though.  Now
that's weird.
