 Good to see that those recipes are doing some good. I have noticed that some
of this series are overly "fiddly" and quite complex going for some special
effect of which I am not sure I am in agreement with. And some are, like the
one we are discussing, pretty straight-forward and reasonably easy for the home
cook to duplicate. Every week epicurious.com emails their pick of five recipes.
And I dutifully MM them and bung them into the data base.
 
I have noticed that some of the latest ones I got have a tear line of "Gourmet
- January 2011". Hopefully that presages a return of my favourite foodie
magazine.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

      Title: Potatoes Gourmet
 Categories: Potatoes, Cheese, Dairy
      Yield: 6 servings
  
      6 md Potatoes
      2 c  Cheddar cheese; shredded
      6 tb Butter; divided
  1 1/2 c  Sour cream
      3    Green onions; chopped
      1 ts Salt
    1/4 ts Pepper
 
  Cook potatoes in skins; cool. Peel and shred on a coarse
  grater.
   
  Combine cheese and 3 tablespoons butter in saucepan; heat
  and stir until cheese is almost melted. Remove from heat;
  blend in sour cream, onion, salt, and pepper. Fold in
  potatoes, and spoon into a greased 2-quart casserole dish.
  Dot with 1 tablespoon butter. *

  Cover and bake at 300oF/150oC about 25 minutes.

  UDD note: What happened to the other 2 TB of butter?
