I used to be in the newspaper business and the printing trades. We were 
never allowed to proof our own copy at the newspaper. And we were 
expected to proof-read others stuff - without editing. That was the 
editor's gig ... besides a final proof-reading before going to the 
typesetters.

At the print shop we were printing a book aimed at cashing in on the big 
tourist business in all things Abraham Lincoln which is a huge part of 
the economic engine of this area. The copy was all in, type all set, the 
book had been proof read more than several times, including a final 
proof reading session in which the boss offered a steak dinner for any 
errors found. And had to pay off on one. Finally, the book went to press 
and thence to the binders. 

The very day that we unloaded the finished books from the bindery on of 
our good friends came by and the boss proudly showed him a finished 
product, intending to give him the first copy to the outside world. So, 
Rev. Luke opens it up and within 30 seconds asks, "What is this?" 
pointing out a typo that had escaped more than 25 proof-readings.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

      Title: Foolproof Beef & Broccoli
 Categories: Beef, Soups, Pasta, Vegetables
      Yield: 4 Servings

    3/4 lb Boneless beef sirloin steak
      1 tb Vegetable oil
      1 cl Garlic; minced
      1 md Onion; in wedges
 10 1/4 oz Campbell's Cream of
           - Broccoli Soup
    1/4 c  Water
      1 tb Soy sauce
      2 c  Broccoli flowerets
           Hot cooked noodles

  Slice beef across the grain into very thin strips.

  In skillet, over medium-high heat, in hot oil, cook beef
  and garlic until beef is browned. Add onion. Cook for 5
  minutes stirring often.

  Stir in soup, water and soy sauce. Heat to boiling. Add
  broccoli.

  Reduce heat to low. Cover, simmer for 5 minutes or until 
  vegetables are tender. Serve over noodles.

  Makes 4 servings.

  TIP: To make slicing easier, freeze beef for 1 hour.
