-> New York.  We went for a Valentines Day package.   Lake Side room, bottle

-> Haven't opened the Champagne yet.. we'll wait for some non-auspicious
-> moment.  The dinner was a choice of shared appetizer [we picked crab

-> quite good], salad,  beverage[non-alc], our choice of the full menu, and
-> desserts from a tray of four [ we both chose chocolate creme brulle ].

-> The house salad was nicely varied veggies and dressings.  Very fresh.

-> The crab cakes were a bit flat, and the texture reminded Shirley of tuna
-> fish.  It was on a bed of lettuce and something purple, and I found the
-> cake with the vegs to be quite good.  Normally I just eat it off the
-> veggies.

-> Shirley to my vast surprise chose Filet Mignon, medium rare. She liked it
-> but only ate about 25% of it.  It was done just to her liking and was
-> butter soft.

-> I ordered the duck in a cherry based sauce. I got two huge legs, extremely
-> tender and cooked nicely, with browned skin that was delicious.  I have
-> only had duck a few times, and I expected half a duck.  I was very pleased
-> to get two dark meat legs.  I really liked that duck!

-> The two chocolate creme brulle had a too thin crust over dark chocolate
-> pudding.  Luckily the chocolate was very dark and quite unsweet.  It hit
-> the spot.

-> Why did one old man and his young lady drive twenty miles to stay 
overnight
-> in a hotel?  I dunno. but we had a lovely time, and a fine meal.

beyond that!! Glad you had a good time
and didn't have to do any dishes!!
