Isn't it painful?  Or do you use nasal pre-heaters or other forms of
exhaled air heat recovery?  I have breathed air as low as 5 C, and
found it quite agonising, as if my nose was being frozen from the
inside.

The first time I heard it, it was.  The Arabic prayers lasted most of
the way while taxying out to take off.  The tape was very worn and
scratchy, but it must have still worked, as we took off safely.  The
wines served with meals on that plane were all non-alcoholic, which
gave me an idea what the situation was like in Brunei.

In spite of the excesses of the Sultan's brother, that country is
still very rich, with a high standard of health and education.  After
living in some much poorer countries, it was surprising to see a lady
street sweeper chatting on her cell-phone.

"Night-life" in the capital, Bandar Seri Bagawan, finished at 9 pm,
except for one Internet Cafe, which stayed open until 11 pm.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.05
 
      Title: [Brunei] Beriani
 Categories: Malaysian, Chicken, Nuts
      Yield: 4 servings
 
      1    Chicken, about 900gms
           (or beef/mutton)
      1 tb Poppy seeds
      1    Garlic cloves
      1 c  Shallots - sliced
      1 ts Curry powder
      2 ts Salt
      2    Chillies
    1/2    Coconut - grated
      5    Cm piece ginger
      4 tb Ghee
      5    Cloves
      5    Cm cinnamon stick
     10    Cashew nuts
     10    Almonds
    450 g  Long-grain rice
 
  Cut chicken into 6 -- 8 pieces Grind together garlic, ginger,
  chillies, poppy seeds, cashew nuts and almonds. Heat ghee and fry
  cloves, cinnamon, shallots. Add in the chicken pieces, 1 tsp salt,
  ground ingredients and curry powder. Stir to mix and cook covered for
  10 minutes.
  
  Extract 1 - 2 cups coconut milk from coconut. Add in salt. Mixed with
  washed rice and cook it. When the rice has absorbed all the milk,
  make a well in the center and put the chicken mixture. Cover and
  allow rice to cook over very low fire.
