It has quite a thick skin, which is removed by nicking it and
squeezing.  One problem for exporters is that once picked, it does not
ripen further, so the fruit has to be picked when fully ripe.  That
doesn't give much time for delivery.

How does the idea of cheap, duty-free Barbados rum strike you?

Bill the Swisher said he has seen teeny-weeny shrimps from the cold
waters.  You could dry them and eat whole in stir-fries, or mix them
in with eggs to make an omelet.

I have been relieved to hear that my grandson and his wife, who live
in Christchurch, New Zealand are alive and well, but conditions are
not good there.  Most of the city is without water and power, and the
sewerage system has broken down, so that raw sewage is flowing down
the beautiful Avon River.  Residents have been told to dig a hole in
the back yard...

The CBD has been evacuated, apart from rescue workers, police and
army.  Water trucks have been visiting suburban areas, so that
residents can get drinking water.  71 people have been confirmed dead,
but as over 300 are still missing under rubble, this will rise.  The
20 storey Hotel Grand Chancellor, where I was staying last month, is
tilted, leaning onto the building next to it, and is expected to
collapse at any time.  After-shocks are continuing.
