Sounds like it. I think a lot of families have at least one semi
dysfunctional member. Some have more than one, some manage to not have
any in the immediate family but do in the extended one.

Possibly the old wire bail jars that you need a rubber ring to make a
gasket for sealing, all the others are garden variety canning jars. Some
are ones I left there when we began our vagabond days; I've not yet
canned as much in any year as I did the last year before Steve went into
the Army. Started with green beans in May and finished with sweet
potatoes in November.

About the norm for cousins, especially boy cousins. Rachel & Deborah had
various "alliances" with their cousins over the years but the distance
between them sort of made it temporary--whenever we were visiting. Now
they're all on Facebook and quite close.

Our folks have (thanks to Steve) Skype. Mine talked to Rachel & the kids
the other day and enjoyed it.
