========================================================================
Hidey there Ruth!
->
-> -> hn> Oh boy were they hot!! Whoosh! I turned beet red
-> -> hn> as well, but finished the dish sans the jalepeno's
->
-> -> And Annie sat there, enjoying the show. (G) Is Amanda a pepper eater
-> -> like her dad or a pepper wimp like her mom?
->
-> hn> Annie quite enjoyed the show I think! Amanda
-> hn> is not as much of a chile head as I am but she's
-> hn> way more of one than Anne is! While I'll order
-> hn> many dishes as spicy as I can get em, she'll
-> hn> usually ask for "medium".
->
-> I go mild to medium-depends on how well I know the cook's definitions of
-> mild, medium and hot. The one Indian place in Raleigh we ate at Steve
-> ordered medium to hot & said later that medium was hot enough for him
-> there. I ordered the same thing, mild to medium and it was a good heat
-> level for me. Next time we go, we'll know to order medium and mild &
-> it'll have enough spice for both of us.
->
Indian spices are often quite different
than other ethnicities...or so it seems
to me...I made the mistake of ordering
extra hot at a Goa'n run Indian place once,
and only once! They like their food firey and
what I got was really some sort of live
fire hidden in a vindaloo! I was able to
eat/enjoy it but felt the fire for almost
a day after!

-> Anne won't even use black pepper!!
->
-> Even my parents use that--but not much beyond that. Onion salt & garlic
-> salt are the 2 biggest "spices" used there.
->
I try to convince Anne to be a bit more
adventurous in her dining and bless her,
she does try somewhat...but she just
does not care for certain things (fish,
heat, spicy) and prefers to eat a very
bland diet.

-> hn> I'd like to try that steak ranchero again...but
->  hn> with normal jalepenos!
->
-> Sounds good. Great American Land & Cattle Company outside of El Paso
has
-> a cheese & pepper topped chicken breast that's good. Peppers have had
-> just enough bite to them to go well with the cheese & chicken.
->
I think if they'd combined the
super hot jalepenos with Anaheims
or even bell peppers it would have
worked better for me...but my best
guess is that those peppers were
an abnormality and they would not
have been as hot if I'd ordered the
dish again some other time.

-> ->  hn> Dr's visit on the 13th reconfirmed the
-> -> hn> quandry that seems to be my knee. The
-> -> hn> blood flow and nothing visible that could
-> -> hn> cause it...so we did another MRI of the
-> ->  hn> knee and I have another appointment
-> -> hn> with the Dr on the 7th of Sept. Who
-> ->  hn> knows what we'll find this time?
->
-> -> Sounds like exploratory surgery may be in your future. Every so oftem
-> -> my knee likes to give out on me but not as often as I'd think, for the
-> -> use it gets. The left wrist/elbow are my biggest source of joint pain
-> -> problems most of the time. Being left handed, seems that I'm using the
-> -> wrist & elbow quite frequently. (G)
->
->  hn> They'll have a tough time convincing me
-> hn> that cutting in again is warranted unless
-> hn> they can give me a good solid reason for
-> hn> what they expect to find. Just "going in
-> hn> and having a look around" is not enough
-> hn> justification for me to agree to surgery.
->
-> That's basically what was done on my foot a few years ago. Didn't
-> really fix anything and I had a nasty reaction to the anesthesia to top
-> it off. The foot I broke (and rebroke) in HI 5 years ago will always be
-> a pain.
->
Unless they have some specific
recommendation, or have a better
than "good" idea of what they will
find and know that they are able
to improve my situation, I'm not
going to consider surgery unless
as a very last resort.

-> hn> If they have a good idea of what the
-> hn> problem is, and what they can do to
->  hn> "fix" it, I'll listen.
->
-> Got a referral for a 2nd opinion lined up?
->
Not at this point...but I have lots
of options and am in no hurry to
have the knee whacked on...certainly
not before the end of the baseball
season anyway!

-> -> hn> We went to both, and had a great time!
->
-> -> Petrified forest would have been more interesting, IMO. Then, too, I've
-> -> always been a bit of a rock hound. Did you see that a mine in NC gave
->
-> hn> You would have found the petrified forest a
->  hn> tough task for you...unpaved paths
-> hn> through wooded hillsides, with rocks
-> hn> sticking out making footing quite
-> hn> hazardous. Giant redwood trees
-> hn> were laying horizontally and they
-> hn> dug out around them so they would
-> hn> be viewable. About 3/4 mile trail up
-> hn> and down hills ending at the starting
->
-> Sigh! On a good day I'd give it a try. If I'd been on my feet a lot
-> already, nothing doing.
->
It would have been too rough for
someone with a mobility scooter as
well I think. Basically it was a hiking
trail through the woods in very
hilly and rough terrain. I think it
would really improve the whole
experience if they'd at least
pave a path that would be
more accessible to folks who
aren't mountain goats.

->  hn> point (the souveinier shop) I bought a
->  hn> fossilized clam!!
->
-> Costing you some clams. (G)
->
a mere bag of shells! (grin)

-> -> hn> 90's! Worked the AC in the hotel as
-> ->  hn> hard as we could!
->
-> -> Been there, done that for less intense temps but higher humidities.
->
-> hn> I'm glad the humidity was as low as it
->  hn> was!
->
-> We're having 90+ temps again but the humidity isn't matching it this
-> time around. Still, air advisories have been put out so I'm staying in
-> a lot.
->
-> -> short trip. She had 4 of her 5 kids in the area; I think it helped her
-> -> psychlogically to see #5 as well. And, my dad especially, appreciated
-> -> our 13 hour visit.
->
->  hn> Glad she's doing better!
->
-> So are we! Talked to her the other night--a bit of hesitation and not
-> getting the right word out but much better than a couple of weeks ago.
->
That's a good sign though! Improvement
at any level is a strong sign that it may
continue!

-> -> hn> the Freeway. Helicopters were dropping
-> -> hn> water from a nearby lake only yards from
->
-> -> And you were hoping they had good aim. (G) We went thru a section of
-> -> wild fires (on the opposite side of the road) the first time we drove up
-> -> from GA to visit SEBTS. It wasn't large enough for water drops tho.
->
 If you google "Ashland Fire" you'll see more
on the story...they arrested a homeless man
for starting the fire. What a tragedy!
chat with you soon!
