Hi Ruth,

>> lot of those allergies were tamed down some.. in other words while she

> starving when I met her in 2008. (G)

Lol :) That's certainly true and I'm glad she's a healthy girl.

Really all I did was make sure that she didn't have to eat too many of the
foods every day that caused her the most grief.. If she got fish once a week,
that was ok.. anything more would start stomach trouble and worse (asthma).

>> And today.. the wind was so fierce in the afternoon, I thought I'd
>> crumble.. but I had to get to the doc (grin).

> We've had all sorts of crazy temperatures. It hit 81 earlier this week;

(drat! I want some! (bg) )

> Monday it's supposed to be in the 50s. And, we've had the wind too.
> We're supposed to get some good rain tonight into tomorrow which should
> help the major deficit and tone down the fire danger.

Our snow is melting after our last onslaught on Tuesday.. after a few feet of
snow showed up we were reminded that Winter is not over :(

>> rotator-cuff was "bruised" as I thought, but not damaged terribly..
>> which is a good thing.. and boy did my arm ache after both he and a
>> 3rd year med. student poked, prodded and yanked my arm around
>> (laugh)..

> Did they make you say "ouch?" I've had that sort (but not with a
> rotator cuff) poking and prodding too many times to make it funny.

haha.. they sure did.. several times.. and I had taken 3 anacin (strong aspirin
with caffeine in to make the aspirin work faster) when I woke up that morning..
Aspirin only really works with that kind of pain if you don't use the
arm/shoulder.. That's why even choppping onions was so painful. Anyway he said
my rotator cuff didn't seem to torn which I guess is a more serious thing...
though the pain killer he gave me doesn't seem a whole lot stronger than those
3 anacin I was taking.. his choice for the med may have been related to another
drug I take, which can't be taken with some powerful painkillers..and that is
just fine by me (g).

> Anyway, I hope it heals fast and you won't need the surgery. That's a
> pain in it's own right; Steve had it while we were in HI.

I don't even want to think about surgery.. everything with MS scares doctors..
typically they don't want to touch you with something so obtrusive as surgery.
Really, the worst I feared was that steroid injection into the muscle.. it is
so incredibly painful.. worse than having kids (g). It's fast though, but it
really did me in after that one I had so many years ago..

>> Oh.. 78.. like a dream right now Lol I'm hoping we get some temps in
>> the 40's or 50's again so I can get the peas in.. :) That seems to be
>> about my limit.

> We're aiming for the 60s tomorrow. Steve did some "gardening" today,
> getting the area ready where we want to plant the tomatoes and peppers.
> We also picked up some lettuce (a variety of butter crunch) plants at
> the farmer's market today that went into that plot.

Yes, this is the time to do it since most lettuces don't like warm weather...
for us, I usually start them inside around now.. this year I haven't with the
shoulder and such.

> I can come up with ideas but don't know how to put them together onto a
> web page. That's your expertise.

A lot of it is examining the way people do things, and of course lots of
reading.. a lot of reading :)

>> It's not terribly hard to do.. with the right tools to examine how
>> other pages are constructed, you can learn a lot. What's funny is,

>> my daughter who pointed out those tools me :) See, I knew children

> My younger daughter would probably be able to tell me how to do it. The
> older one would explain it like she were teaching it to a class. (G)

That's cute :) Though there is so much to learn, it's one of those things
where you feel good about knowing how much you _don't_ know :) :) Even in
programming, I've always felt that I was on the upside of the "battle" when I
realized how much more there was to understand and learn. (smile)

>> In other words, with your browser (like firefox) you can 'View' the
>> html source of any page.. but with other tools like firebug and
>> webdeveloper, you can also examine the css code of the page. After
>> much reading of how to use CSS, that's what I used to see real-time
>> examples of moden web technology.. I'm sure you don't have the time to
>> investigate those, but perhaps someday :)

> I've got a bit of a breather right now; my 7 week class is over. I've
> got some sewing to do before I head out west next month, not sure if
> I'll pick up any jobs or not in the down time. If not, I'm OK as I can
> use the time to sew for myself or grandbabies.

That's always a good thing and I'm sure it will be appreciated by your
daughters :)

>> The soonest I'd put them in is the day after St. Patrick's day :)
>> Just a habit started way back when I used "Crokett's Victory Garden",
>> a pbs show and book, to plant my very first garden sometime around
>> 1978 :) It's still the best book I've found regarding gardening.

> We're a bit further south so stuff like that goes in earlier here. I've
> heard about Crokett but never saw the show or read his book.

He lived in Maine, so his scheduling worked out just fine when I was living in
Warwick, and now here in Broome County, it's also fine. He does tell you when
to do what no matter where you live though.. the book is out of print right
now, I had to find someone who was selling it used..but that was fine.

Take care,
Janis
