I've done the 3 bean salad but usually used canned beans. Made one about
18 months ago where I used dry black, navy and kidney beans, then green
bell pepper. The different coloring took people by surprise but it was
enjoyed.

 DD>   ensure proper fit, if necessary. Combine salt, vinegar
 DD>   water, and pepper flakes (if desired). Bring to a boil. Add
 DD>   hot solution to beans, leaving 1/2-inch headspace.
