Hi Hap,

I know; it is a rather bright color. (G) I usually cut them in half and
add just a bit of salt & peppper to them.  Good eating!

My mom made the sauce and always used Ann Page or Mueller's pasta,
whichever was cheaper. The cheese was the store brand of the green can.
All in all, not as good as I make it now. (G) But, it (along with a loaf
of "Italian" or "French" bread, it filled us up.

-> Dad had it some, I think post WWII, when he was at home but had a lot
-> more of it when he got married. It was an inexpensive meal for a big
-> family; a pound of ground beef would feed the 7 of us.

Ever get hot dog stew? Just canned vegetable soup made with about half
the normal amount of water and cut up hot dogs in it. Not glamourous but
cheap and filling.

Nothing like a good banana pudding. I've had some memorable ones and
some I'd like to forget.

And the north, but neither one do as much as they used to. I had some
beef soup bones so tonight's supper was multi bean soup with the bones,
started with sauteed celery & onion. I used some home made veggie stock
and a big can of crushed tomatoes in addition to the water. Seasonings
were salt & original Mrs Dash. Side of home made whole wheat biscuits &
butter blend (3 sticks butter to 1 cup olive oil, mixed well). A good
cold & wet weather meal.

Got to wait a few more months until tomatoes are in season again.
