I'm just giving you the rest of the story. Actually the Inuit ate a
a fair amount of fresh greens and berries on a seasonal basis and
dried some for soups throughout the long winters. But they got most
of their vitamins during the long winters from animal fats and organ
meats. Also from raw meat as flesh contains traces of vitamin C
which is lost on cooking.

Foraging is simple in the far north: there are no poisonous plants
or mushrooms above the treeline and relatively few to worry about in
the taiga forests.

Like many of us here I too prefer the dark meat and the skin. I also
prefer game birds over chicken.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

      Title: Grise Fiord Seal Stew
 Categories: Game, Stews, Native, Canadian, Marinades
      Yield: 1 Batch

    Seal meat
    Soya sauce
    Flour
    Stew veggies: potatoes and
    Onions, carrots, celery, etc
      2 ts Soya sauce
      2 ts Corn starch
      2 ts Beef soup base

  From Parnee Noah of Grise Fiord on Ellesmere Island in Nunavut,
  Canada's most northerly civilian settlement. [Alert Air Force
  Station and Eureka Weather Station are further north but are not
  really communities in the normal sense of the word.]

  Cut up seal meat into small chunks. Marinade overnight in soya sauce.
  Using a plastic shaking bag, flour the meat and then deep fry it.
  Proceed as for basic beef stew. Flavour with more soya sauce, add
  beef soup base if the stock needs enriching and thicken with corn
  starch.
