 -> RH> Antique textiles and jewelry work on me. Food samples of prefab
 -> RH> food don't have much impact. I can walk past your salty
 -> RH> mozzerela sticks, but not the 1940s Mexican sterling.
 -> Remember we were talking expensive (and theoretically tasty) cheeses
 -> being put on greatly reduced sale, though, not food samples of mozz
 -> sticks... ;) They hope that you'll be hooked into buying full price
 -> later... (G)  I know... it's still quite the dream...  ;)   But it's
 -> more like the knowing the quality of the product being shown... ;)
 ->
 RH> And knowing I'll never be able to afford it again.:-)

Unless it gets put back on SELL-IT-NOW pricing... ;) Wegmans Organic
chicken and pork sausages are somewhat in that category... but
apparently many people are balking at the full price... I keep finding
those Tuscan pork ones at half-price with short dates... ;) The third
package of them just went into my freezer this week... (G)

 ->  ->  RH> Some of it wasn't; I read the ingredient list.
 -> -> Even for free, some things aren't worth it... ;)
 -> RH> I've eaten some of them. :-) Most of that stuff gets donated.
 -> Or left behind... some stuff no one would want... :)

 RH> Or should want. Minute Rice falls into that category. I did try
 RH> their multi-grain version (with a fat coupon and on sale) recently.
 RH> It wasn't horrible.

Some things are useful for short-notice use... or soak up the extra
liquid use... ;) I gave up on the boxed stuff for my pantry, though...
it tended to grow bugs before I'd get to it... Wegmans came out with
some decent frozen microwave brown rice... that makes a better quick
fix...  :)

 ->  RH> She didn't complain about the chocolate-covered Speculatus I
 ->  RH> snagged today either.  It's a small package of chocolate-backed
 -> RH> spice cookies. The local job lot turns up some interesting
 ->  RH> imports.
 -> Where was that one from...? It does sound intriguingly interesting. ;)

 RH> These are German. They're pretty good. Then again, anything dunked
 RH> in dark chocolate is going to be pretty good.

True. :) The description reminded me a bit of the chocolate backed
digestives from England... they are a favorite here... ;)

 -> RH> I'm probably doing a crab mac and cheese for a church group on
 -> RH> Sunday. I just hope the guys in the group will eat seafood. Then
 -> RH> again, some guys will eat anything if it has enough cheese in it!
 -> Is that going to be real crab, or Krab...? But you are correct, enough
 -> cheese can camoflauge almost anything... :)

 RH> Canned real crab. The other stuff is tasteless fake fish. It's
 RH> protein, but not much more.

Ah, that's good, then... :) Real crab should make the mac&cheese pretty
nice... ;) Krab can be partly real crab, but mostly white fish made to
somewhat resemble... it can be ok in some settings, but not in the same
category as real crab...  :)

 -> RH> Stop&Shop does that, touts it that is. The others just have it
 -> RH> around. The local job lot store is known for attracting oddities.
 -> RH> They also carry the entire line of Bob's Red Mill or close to it.
 -> I haven't paid enough attention to our local job lot stores... they
 -> aren't quite enough in my regular path to remind me of their existence
 -> when actually out and about... and I'm not that much of a shopper...
 -> it might be worth a check I suppose... :)

 RH> It often is. They vary, but a place like Big Lots gets interesting
 RH> things too.

We've hit that at Christmas, when needing inexpensive gifts... :)

 ->  ->  RH> screaming, and a few might want to help.(LOL)
 -> -> Some parents would think it a very useful lesson... :)
 -> RH> My grandmother would have wondered what the big deal was. She
 -> RH> killed her own all the time growing up.
 -> Exactly... once upon a time, one knew where the food came from, and
 -> did a lot of that "gruesome" prep work without a second thought.. ;)

 RH> It might be enough to make me into a vegetarian. :-)

That's a lot of work at the source, too... ;)
