As a child, I had to eat what was put before me, in that form. For
cereal, I could (and did) add white sugar & milk for the cold stuff,
brown sugar and milk to hot but nothing more. Breakfast was always
cereal, white bread with jelly (had to have a slice, whether we
wanted--I didn't want to--or not), orange juice and milk, coffee for mom
& dad. Dad still has the same thing for breakfast, I don't.

If I stay up too late, then I have a hard time getting to sleep that
night. However, the next night I'm usually out as soon as my head hits
the pillow.

Yes, you can see how it's done (or should be done) but it's nothing like
doing it for real.
