It turns out to be not a market test but a full blown international
introduction. I googled triscuits in Canada and got taken to
"www.snackworks.ca" which told me that there are four new Triscuit
flavours here made with brown rice: your sweet potato & caramelized
onion flavour and also tomato basil, red bean and roasted red pepper,
and sea salt and black pepper. They haven't arrived in my
supermarket yet but they probably will.

Christie is doing the same thing with their Wheat Thins brand:
adding vegetable flavours. There is a sweet potato version which I
have not tried and a spinach and roasted garlic version which I have
had. It tasted pretty much like a regular wheat thin but had little
green specks in it and a faint garlic odour. OK but nothing to get
excited about.

Oh, Christie is Canadian and makes Oreos, Triscuits and Wheat Thins
and all those other Nabisco brands.

     Title: St. Stephen's Day Pie

  Servings: 8

      2 lb cold turkey meat
      1 lb cold ham or bacon
      1 oz butter
  1 1/2 c  chopped onions
      1    clove garlic, minced
  2 1/2 c  poultry stock
  1 1/4 c  turkey gravy
      8 oz small button mushrooms
      4 ts chopped parsley
      4 ts chopped chives
      2 ts marjoram or tarragon
    2/3 c  heavy cream
      2 lb Duchesse Potato 

Cut the turkey and ham into approximate 1" pieces. Melt the butter
in a heavy saucepan, add the chopped onions, cover and sweat for
about 10 minutes until they are soft, but not browned. Meanwhile,
wash and slice the mushrooms.

When onions are soft, stir in the garlic and remove to a plate.
Increase the heat and cook the sliced mushrooms. Season with salt
and pepper and add to the onion and garlic.

Toss the cold turkey and ham in the hot saucepan, using a little
extra butter if necessary. Add the mushrooms and onions. De-glaze
the saucepan with the turkey stock. Add the cream and chopped herbs
and bring to a boil. Add gravy, meat, mushrooms and onions and
simmer for 5 minutes. Taste and adjust seasonings.

Pour filling into a pie plate and top with potatoes (for a
decorative effect, pipe the potatoes with a pastry bag). Bake for
15-20 minutes or until potato is golden and the pie is bubbling.

A traditional Irish recipe.
