My experience at Tony Roma's was not horrendous but also
not worth repeating. I'm wondering if one could get a
decent meal there if for example one ordered a hamburger.
TR apparently caters to the crowd that thinks that falling
off the bone (i.e., precooked, likely by boiling) is the
ne plus ultra of gastronomy, and the sweeter the better.
The actually worst ribs I ever had were at Watford in
North Carolina, where apparently the staff didn't cotton
to my coming in with a black person (Benita), or perhaps
her coming in with me, and we were served ribs that had
been partially parcooked but not smoked nor finished on
the grill, so they were gray, tough, and boiled-tasting.

Sounds like well deserved.

Speaking of, there's a well-regarded Irish chocolate
company called Lily O'Brien's, whose slogan is "Passionate
about Chocolate." I've found its products sort of mediocre
and not really worth reporting on, but today, courtesy of
United Airlines, I had a sultana and crispie cluster, which
was really quite nasty. Binding together the sultanas (22%)
and the crispies (11%) was a milk chocolate that would have
done Hershey's proud - not much but off flavors, no chocky
presence at all, horridly sweet, a strong dairy presence,
not quite so rotten as Hershey's, but close enough.

1 1/2 oz Belle de Brillet
3/4 oz Stoli Vanil
1 oz pear nectar

Shake on ice. Serve in martini glass, topped
with a splash of Veuve Cliquot.
