==================================
Hi Nancy,

NB> NB>> Well, I was basically living at home, so meals on campus tended
NB> to be NB>> catch as catch can for me... there were periods of time
 NB> when I wasn't NB>> eating much at all... ;)

RH> Difference between commuter and resident student. Steve was a commuter
RH> to Roberts for a year, decided he'd rather be a resident for seminary.
RH> We don't live on campus, rented a house in town, but close enough to
RH> the campus we can easily participate in activities there.

NB> Quite. In my case, I spent lots of time on campus, often spending the
NB> night in a friend's dorm room.... that way I was easily participating
NB> in the activities and all, but not officially resident... Not really
NB> the best of both worlds, sometimes yes, sometimes not at all... ;)

Could have been better than it was? Steve said there was a time or two
he made the trip back home when he should have stayed on campus because
the weather was not good for driving. He lived a good 45 minutes or so
out from RWC so I could see the sense in that. Resident students didn't
have that to worry about; we just had to trudge thru the weather to get
to the dining facility. When I was a student, only freshman boys lived
in dorms; other male students lived in homes around the community and
didn't neccessarily have to eat school food if they had other
arraingements.

RH> I'm presuming they were canned, they tasted like it.

NB> I've known people who could cook the life out of fresh veggies, and
 NB> you'd swear they'd been canned... ;)

They could have been fresh but cooking for that many people, I just
don't think they were.

 NB> NB>>> There you go.. ;) A properly appointed chili... ;)
NB> RH>> A lot better than the no heat white chili I had at a baby shower
 NB> RH>> today.
 NB> NB>> Just say no...? ;0

RH> The one who made it said it had some heat but I sure didn't taste any.
RH> Guess I should have grabbed the bottle our Life Group keeps in the
RH> fridge and used a drop or 2.

NB> Guess your heat tolerance is a bit higher than hers... :) Would she
NB> have been offended if you'd gone for the hot sauce bottle...?

Probably not but I wasn't at a good spot in which to do so.

RH> The dessert auction is a fund raiser (usually) for youth camp
RH> scholarships. Our first year in the new to us building they decided to
RH> donate the money toward a new sign for the front of the church
RH> property but generally it helps defray the cost of camp. The fact that
RH> it is a good cause fund raiser is probably why the bidding war was/is
RH> fierce at times but it's a lot of fun as well.

NB> That would make sense... :)

RH> Last year I made my lemon pound cake; the guy that wanted it wasn't
RH> there but called in and bid by phone (and won the cake).

 NB> Where there's a will, there's a way... :)

Yes, and he was quite determined to get it. Our first year at the church
I made a pumpkin roll that he bought. He's in our Life Group so he knows
what my desserts taste like--good. (G)

RH> I've not decided what to do for this year; the auction is April 6.

NB> That gives you a little time to figure out what you want to make... :)

Yes, and I'm debating. Steve wants me to do an apple cake (sorry, it's
one you can't eat) again but I'm still undecided.

 RH> (Olives)
NB> RH>> I didn't take the time to look as I had to get home, get stuff
NB> put RH>> away and get to the baby shower. Maybe next
 NB> time................
NB> NB>> Always a next time... ;) Some things just aren't all that
 NB> urgent, NB>> really... ;)

RH> Especially not when there's so many other things to do that day. I
RH> think I'd rather go down to to Whole Foods and get some from their
RH> bar--there's more of a variety to choose from.

NB> Then the problem is deciding just which to choose this time... ;)

Yes, and remembering to get them. Usually I splurge on cheeses down
there; they put all their small pieces of all types (of hard) into a box
(to keep it in one spot). I have fun going thru it and picking out new
ones to try or finding a small piece of an old favorite.

NB> Speaking of olives... I finally had that lunch date with my friend
NB> Donna at Olives (the little Greek Taverna that I had mentioned that is
NB> one of the sit-down places for MidEastern food...) Fortunately, it
NB> still is in existance, and appears to be doing quite well still.. She
NB> was intrigued by the broiled cheese appetizer, so ordered that... Nice
NB> tasty cheese, with crispy edges, served with pita wedges... and a
NB> large portion, so we shared it. We both had gyros, hers was eggplant,
 NB> mine
NB> was the Olives special... Both very nice, mine had typical gyro meat
NB> where hers had breaded eggplant strips, with tomatoes, onions and
NB> tzatiki (sp?) sauce. I had mine with (turned out to be a very large
NB> order of) sweet potato fries, she had Greek fries with feta with

Both sandwiches (wraps) sound good. Was the tatsiki (varient on
spelling) mildly garlic flavored or heavy on the garlic? We like it
heavier, also if they use adjvar sauce as well on the gyro. Steve would
have liked the sweet potato fries; I probably would have gone for a
Greek salad.

NB> hers... All very tasty, and we were too full to even think about
 NB> dessert... ;)

Bakalava, I presume?

NB> Have you been with your friends to the Korean restaurant yet...?

No, planning has been put on hold for various reasons.

Catch you later,
