We are, mostly, and the airlines are going to give us as little
as they can get away with. That's just the way things are.

Speaking of traffic, I dined with the FAA guy in charge of
flow control between San Fran and LA; he said with some
relief that no US government no matter how irrational would
dare to eliminate his position.

He's the one who said he'd try to get my flight 1101 to land
on 11/11/11 at 11:11:11, but he only managed to get it to
land at 11:00.

Concert by a Stanford group featuring works by a friend of
mine.

Spam is loved by many, lutefisk few, and those all without
taste buds.

Flyin' Hawaiian Burger

Hawiian sweet roll (available at most grocers)
teriyaki sauce
roasted pineapple relish (recipe below)
chili mayo (recipe below)
daikon sprouts (available at most grocers)
lomi lomi tomato (recipe below)
lettuce
Spam
h - roasted pineapple relish
1 pineapple, peeled, cored, diced large
1 jalapeno, sliced
1/2 c teriyaki sauce
s, p
h - chili mayo
1 c mayo
1 1/2 Tb sambal oelek or to taste
1 lemon, juice of
s, p
h - lomi lomi tomato
5 Roma tomatoes
2 green onions, green part only
1/4 red onion
1 ts coarse salt
1 pn fresh ground pepper

Roasted pineapple relish. In a bowl, toss jalapeno and
pineapple with 1/2 c of teriyaki sauce and place on a
roasting pan. Roast at 400F for 40 min or until tender
and slightly caramelized, allow to cool to room temperature.
Place in a food processor and pulse to a relish-like
consistency, season with salt and pepper to taste.

Chili mayo. Blend mayo with sambal and lemon juice. Season
with salt and pepper to taste

Lomi lomi tomato. Cut tomatoes in half and scoop out the
seeds and juice, dice the remaining tomato flesh into 1/4"
dice and place in a mixing bowl. Finely chop green onions
and finely julienne red onion and add to the tomatoes.
Add coarse salt (kosher or sea salt) and pepper and gently
massage the salt into the tomato.

Assembly. Slice Spam 1/4" thick and place into a hot
skillet. Brown on both sides. Once the meat is browned,
add 1 Tb Teriyaki sauce and reduce slightly to glaze.

Slice the sweet buns open and spread chili mayo on each
half, add pineapple relish to bottom half of bun, place
the Teriyaki glazed Spam on top of the pineapple relish.
Top Spam with lettuce, lomi lomi tomatoes, and daikon
sprouts. Top it off with the upper portion of the bun
and enjoy!
