Nor are mine. I used to do A&P when they were in the area. Only went to Jewel
in desperation. And that damned seldom. When I lived on the left coast I went
to a Ralph's a few times. But there was HUGE competition from Von's, Safeway,
Lucky and Smart & Final warehouse stores. There was a Smart & Final just a
couple blocks from my house. Guess who got the bulk of my business.

It's been a while since I bought groceries in an area "served" by Food Loin. I
went to Winn-Dixie.  Bv)=  And that was *before* the expose.

Well, it was a nationwide Consumer Reports thing. I just found it a bit odd
that most of the low-rated stores were in the upper east coast area. Possibly
because people there fill out more surveys, but somehow I doubt it.

      Title: Supermarket Low-Fat Oatmeal Cookies
 Categories: Cookies, Snacks, Grains
      Yield: 18 Servings
 
           Margarine
    1/2 c  Sunflower oil
    1/3 c  Brown sugar
      2 tb Sugar
      1    Egg white
    3/4 ts Vanilla
      3 tb Water
      2 c  Rolled oats
    1/3 c  White flour
    1/3 c  Whole-wheat flour
    1/4 ts Salt
    1/2 ts Baking soda
      1 ts Ground cinnamon
 
  Preheat oven to 350oF; grease cookie sheet with margarine;
  cream oil with sugars; add egg white, vanilla and water,
  mixing well; add oats, flours, salt, baking soda and
  cinnamon, mixing only until blended; DO NOT OVER-MIX
  or you will lose the texture of the oats; drop batter by
  teaspoonfuls onto cookie sheet and bake for 10 - 15 mins.
  
  Makes 3 dozen cookies.
