===============================================
Hi Nancy,

NB> NB>> So, your older brother stuck around for a while, too...? :)

RH> Yes, he left Sunday morning, should have gotten home on Tuesday. Other
RH> than his presence, I don't think he really contributed anything to the
RH> discussion on events to come.

NB> At least he'll have less call to be dissatisfied with what others are
NB> doing, since he had the opportunity to contribute... His presence was
NB> probably a useful thing in itself.

His presence was basically just that. But, he got a chance to see what
was in the house and take some of his things that had been around for
years. That included a pair of drum sticks--he gave up on the drums when
he entered 7th grade. My folks thought that playing drums might improve
his hand/eye co-odination--never did that I could tell.

NB> NB>>> prepared or if Eric made it up from scratch... Had little
NB> NB>>> flecks of red on the outside of the chicken, anyway... ;)
 NB> RH>> Possibly Italian dressing?
NB> NB>> Dunno... possibly... He wasn't in church yesterday, so I
 NB> couldn't NB>> ask him...

RH> YOu'll find out eventually. I'm still waiting for the cake recipe but
RH> not in any big rush for it either.

NB> Yup, eventually... So, the new auntie is still tied up with the
 NB> little one...? :)

She was in church Sunday, as was the little one and her parents (got to
talk to mom for a couple of minutes but dad had already taken baby out
to the car). Maybe I'll see her this coming Sunday.

NB> NB>> it... I think his degree was in biology, though... At the
NB> moment, NB>> he's with a temp agency, I think at some warehouse
NB> job... not the NB>> best economy...

RH> At least he's working, which is good in itself these days.

NB> Yup. He's back living at home with his parents, too... and doing what
NB> he can to help them out...

Always a help.

NB> NB>>> I used to like putting apple into things, too... ;) And eating
 NB> NB>>> it... ;0
NB> RH>> Sigh! Any chance you'll "outgrow" the allergy?
NB> NB>> Your guess is as good as mine... but I suspect not... unless it
NB> was NB>> caused by some imbalance that is (or can be) righted
 NB> someday...

RH> Well, at least you know what an apple tastes like.

NB> True... in all its myriad visages... ;)

Should I be like Bubba in Forrest Gump and list different ways to serve
an apple (shrimp)?

NB> NB>> This group tends to think at least to some extent that
NB> direction... NB>> having a number of people that do have dietary
NB> issues does tend to NB>> encourage that sort of thinking and
NB> planning... especially when they NB>> are doing some of the
 NB> planning... ;)

RH> That's a big help! I'd have to read labels to know what was safe, what
RH> isn't until I learned. Then, thanks to the magic words "new and
RH> improved formula", I'd still be reading labels.

NB> Yeah, I know... ;0 Often, but not always, there's some sort of list
NB> of ingredients set alongside the dishes on the table at our church
NB> dinners... especially to point out either known allergens or the
NB> specific lack of them... (ie, contains seafood, or, non-gluten)...
NB> But things like apple and coffee, I'm usually on my own still.. :)

You would think people would list apple, especially knowing your allery
problem. We try to let people we know that have problems what's in
something that maybe should be avoided or cook to avoid allergies. I'm
using the stevia for baking to replace about half the sugar in baked
good, making them a bit more diabetic friendly but found that the stevia
gives one lady migraine type headaches.

NB> NB>> True... My one friend, who's been at the church for years, has
NB> had NB>> the gluten intolerance for most if not all that time, so at
NB> least on NB>> a quiet level, some of us were aware of it... hers
NB> isn't so severe NB>> that she can't take the bread at communion, so
NB> that never was an issue NB>> until more recently when the family that
NB> has the severe issues started NB>> coming... now she provides a
NB> couple slices worth of gluten-free bread NB>> to be offered as an
NB> option at communion... like I said, there's 5 NB>> adults that take
NB> advantage of that regularly... :)

RH> Its one thing we've never discussed in our church. We do try to watch
RH> out in our Life Group for the kid with allergies. Some of the other
RH> cooks have packaging for ingredients handy for me to check carb counts
 RH> on as well.

NB> People have (I think) become used to me coming out to the kitchen to
NB> check what is in the fruit punches... :)

And in our Life Group, I check carb counts on a lot of things. I'm not
as obssesive as I was initially but still, helps to have an idea. If we
have chips from a large bag, I'll weigh out what a portion is, and set
it aside for me rather than just reaching into the bag for a couple of
hands full.

NB> NB>>> I think we were fed better than if we'd gone out to eat for
 NB> NB>>> Mother's Day... :)
 NB> RH>> I don't think so, I know so! (G)
NB> NB>> And you didn't even get to taste it... ;)
NB> RH>> Not physically but from your description, it was a feast well
 NB> worth RH>> the effort.
 NB> NB>> But of course... :)

RH> Now will you reciprocate on Father's Day?

 NB> Well... That's a third Sunday... ;) We'll have our regular church
NB> dinner the week before... dunno if it will be the standard potluck or
NB> some sort of planned dealie... that's up to the people in charge.. :)

In our church in AZ, the men did a breakfast on the grounds for Mother's
Day, ladies did the same for Father's Day. That's why I was asking.

Catch you later,
