Sort of. Their adverts are bigger size pages, on slick paper - where most of 
the other stores use just regular old newsprint or, at best, a semi-coated 
paper like in the Parade magazine insert. I haven't parsed out how much $$$ I 
can save on gasoline by buying various things from their flyer and by 
possessing one of their "rewards" cards. I know that they are not giving away 
the farm with those deals - even if they try to make it seem so. But, the 
Hy-Vee Fuel Saver cards works for cents per gallon off at Shell and Casey's 
(an Iowa based C-Store chain) as well as at the Hy-Vee station.

It hasn't abated much, if any, as far as I can tell.

15c per gallon would prompt me to drive a fair distance to get in on the deal. 
As it is my Moto-Mart - where I have been buying fuel since they came to town. 
They use a direct debit card and give you 6c/gallon off at the pump when you 
use the card. Also, there are some give-aways ... like a coupon for a free cup 
of coffee after every purchase. And monthly freebies - some of which I get in 
on and some of which I blow off ... like the candy bars. And if you buy 10 
gallons of fuel on Sunday you get a coupon for a free car wash. That's not 
just for Moto-Mart Wand Card users - ca$h, other plastic, etc. all get a free 
wash with 10 gallons. Not a bad deal.

      Title: The Once & Future Beans
 Categories: Beans, Pork, Chilies, Vegetables
      Yield: 6 Servings
 
      1 lb Dried Great Northern beans
      1 lb Bacon; chopped
      1 lg Onion; chopped
      2 md Jalapenos; chopped
    1/4 c  Tomato paste
    1/4 c  Dark brown sugar
    1/4 c  Molasses
           Vegetable broth
    1/4 ts Cayenne pepper
      1 ts Black pepper
      2 ts Kosher salt

  Heat oven to 250øF/120øC.
  
  Soak beans in a plastic container overnight in just enough
  cold water to submerge them completely.
  
  Place a cast iron Dutch oven over medium heat and stir in
  the bacon, onion, and jalapenos until enough fat has
  rendered from the bacon to soften the onions, about 5
  minutes. Stir in the tomato paste, dark brown sugar, and
  molasses.
  
  Drain the beans and reserve the soaking liquid. Add the
  drained beans to the Dutch oven. Place the soaking liquid
  in a measuring cup and add enough vegetable broth to equal
  4 cups of liquid. Add the liquid to the Dutch oven and
  bring to a boil over high heat. Add in cayenne, black
  pepper and salt. Give them a stir and cover with the lid.
  Place the Dutch oven in the oven for 6 to 8 hours, or
  until the beans are tender.
