I think my folks saw baked goods as a way to give us a bit of something
sweet made with basically, flour, water & sugar, all inexpensive
ingredients. An egg or two, artificial vanilla flavoring, sometimes some
cocoa powder, all cheap add ins, in small quantity.

Steve introduced me to Breyers when we got married, part of our move
away from chemicals & preservatives in our foods.

I don't know, Steve thinks he's spoiled with my home made bread. (G) Did
you try any of the Portugese sweet bread that Dale & Gail brought up to
the pond picnic a couple of years ago? I made that with fresh ground
(from our mill) wheat.

At least chicken nuggets and frozen pizzas weren't in the lunch

I'd make a "proper" white sauce and add lots of cheddar (extra sharp
please) and a squirt of spicy brown mustard. I said "proper" because I
always make it by eye, no measuring of the fat (which could be anything
from butter to chicken fat or bacon grease), flour or liquid (milk or
stock, latter could be chicken or veggie, home made of course). I'd cook
the macaroni, put it in a bowl with a cover, then do the sauce in the
same pot. Then I'd combine the 2 and nuke it for a couple of minutes to
equalise the temperature. It usually vanished.

We'll have to see if the Seoul Garden down here has one equally good.
