Ärende: heavy lifting
=====================
Hi Nancy,

NB> NB>> So you are getting a new one...? Or living with the old as
 NB> is...?

RH> We're living with the old one as is for now, don't know what the long
RH> term decision will be. It works quite well set on an end table but if
RH> it's moved to the wall where it had been hanging (maybe 5' diagonal
 RH> line), it goes kerfluie.

NB> Steve mentioned that he's checking out replacements... seems odd that
NB> placement makes that much of a difference... maybe it's just some sort
 NB> of resident gremlin...? ;)

Could be, we've had issues with the thermometer before but usually a
battery change has resolved the problem. It's nothing big but we like
knowing what the indoor & outdoor temps are sometimes. Helps us to
decide if we need to grab a jacket or not and if the heating/ac is at an
OK setting indoors.

NB> NB>> Presumably in the kitchen, as an adjunct to preparing wonderful
 NB> food. NB>> ;)

RH> Hopefully; I've no idea how good a cook the young lady that picked it
RH> up is but she knew a good thing when she saw it. I wouldn't have minded
RH> keeping it but for the fact I've got a slew of cutting boards (both
RH> wood and plastic) and no extra counter top space to leave one set out.

NB> So if you'd kept it, you'd've needed to release one of the other
NB> ones.. like with the frypan... :)

Basically, and all the others are flat ones. I keep them in a rack on
top of the dishwasher, same counter top as the dish rack is kept on. Out
of the way but handy when I need them. The refurbished board would not
have fit into the rack because of its feet.

NB> NB>> So you'll be using it for a dough bowl now...?

RH> Steve used it to mix up some bread yesterday; see his message to Jim
 RH> for the recipe.

NB> And he told me how well it worked for that, as well...

The bread is gone; it made four rounds. Two went down to some Afghani
friends; we kept 2 and finished the last with supper tonight. They're
good with kalua style pork stuffed into them. (G)

NB> NB>> And someone else may need the frypan besides... :)

RH> Most likely as there are a lot of young students around here. Some are
RH> just starting out on their own (college), others have been thru
RH> college and are now in seminary. Others, like us, have been around life
RH> a bit longer before going back to school so we're pretty well set on
RH> things like fry pans. My favorites are my 9" and 10" cast iron pans.

NB> Some might have worn out their favorite ones... ;)

It's possible; our first cookware set lasted only 5 years. We were given
a teflon lined, lightweight aluminum set as a wedding present. it wasn't
the best on the market by a long shot so when it began to fall apart, we
replaced it with the Rangetoppers.

NB> RH>> Hopefully Steve's limit will be raised; he sees the doctor two
NB> days RH>> before we take off. If not, then we work around it.
NB> NB>> Good timing for the trip... most up-to-date conditions to
NB> evaluate... NB>> :) Hopefully the doc will think he's ready for a
 NB> little more lifting. NB>> :)

RH> We're hoping so. After my QoV session today he lifted the case with my
RH> sewing machine, a travel iron, current project and some other minor
RH> things into the car before I got out there.

NB> One at a time, probably didn't stress the limit too much... :)

No, they were all in the one case that he lifted into the car. I semi
read him the riot act but figured he wouldn't have, if he knew it would
cause pain. We took that machine (by itself, with the controls) to be
serviced yesterday; I put it in the car but Steve pulled it out at the
place where it will be worked on. Just a basic tune up and tweaking of
the tension; its gotten a lot of use this past year.

NB> NB>> Will do. And, yes, I understand the reasoning... the doc's will
NB> have NB>> a better idea what the heart is capable of when they do the
NB> testing at NB>> the cardio rehab lab, which is yet to be scheduled.
NB> On the other NB>> hand, his continuing to be lifting things unaware
NB> of the situation may NB>> be why his heart was already working on
 NB> making its own bypass...

RH> Could be, but you don't want him stressing himself unneccessarily
RH> right now until you have a better picture of what's going on. Three
RH> years ago my MIL had a-fib that threw a clot into the brain causing a
RH> stroke. The main area affected was her speech, some memory but most of
 RH> that has come back.

NB> True... hopefully we'll be getting answers soon... :)

And I know we'll be seeing the report here. Hopefully it's good news and
Richard can go back to a semi normal routine. Is he using this time to
try any cooking?

Catch you later,
Ruth
