Hi Michael,

Better late than never. Left western NY on the 13th, went to our friends
in PA for a few days, then home on Wed and been catching up ever since.
Monday I'll be making salsa, Tuesday starting pickle relish (to finish
on Wed.) and trying to catch up on Fido between times.

That's the way things go sometimes--have to live with our mistakes the
best we can.

They do serve real maple syrup but don't admit that the adulterate it to
the point where it's not that much maple any more. We picked up a small
jug of the real stuff in the Catskills, made by one of the members of a
church we visited. (We've been to the church several times over the
years.)  Found out NY changed the grading system this year; this looks
to be what used to be called amber.

Your choice. Couldn't get scrapple at either of our two usual places in
PA (one closed, other doesn't make it during the summer) so we found it
at a flea market/livestock auction/farmer's market set up. Had some for
supper the other night, with a drizzle of syrup.

Depends on who's cooking what but the peasant food is more the food of
the land than the fancy stuff.
