I was thinking more of things like powdered reconstituted milk for
drinking, margarine instead of butter, saccherine instead of sugar, that
sort of thing....  Other things I've been able to tinker with to make
them better, like liver... or use healthier versions, like brown rice. 
Grew up with whole grain breads, though, so that didn't change...  :)

Our oatmeal always had the raisins added to the water before the oatmeal
went in, so cooked and plump as part of the deal... plus brown sugar
atop.  I think butter (well, margarine) and milk (that "funny" stuff)
were options...  :)   Now I add cinnamon as well to the oatmeal... 
that last, by the way, is very good for keeping blood sugar where it
belongs...  :)

Yeah, it helps when one's spouse agrees with the food choices (or
non-choices)...  Richard and I are pretty close there, too...  :)
