Smart cat tricks. The ginger cat can break into the house.
She jumps from the ground to a windowsill and then to the
balcony, then paws at the screen door (which doesn't have
a latch) until she gets it open. She has taught the dog to
open screen doors, but Lady can't jump and so tries it on
the deck door, which sometimes gets latched and sometimes
not, depending on whether people value more not being
bothered by a dog or not being bothered by insects. I told
some friends whom I had over to watch and then noted that
life would be better if Lady could be taught to close the
door after herself. But many humans can't learn that, so
why expect it of a dog?

I have been left in a house with large quantities of
dairy products, plus a sizable supply of milk pills.
Today I made this. Tomorrow maybe dulce de leche with
skim milk (you are told never to do this). There is
also a whole carton of sour cream and a bunch of
various kinds of yogurt - chances are I will not mess
with these, though I do like sour cream. Yesterday's
experiment involved Reddi-Wip and the microwave. A
mugful of Redd-Wip on microwaving yields not much more
than a tablespoon of vanilla-scented wheylike material
with a few globs of fat floating on it.

Cheese omeless
cat: egg-free, snack
servings: 1

3 oz full-fat mozzarella cheese
- or other melting cheese
- or hard cheese, for that matter
1 sprinkle cayenne
1 sprinkle garlic powder
1 sprinkle chili powder, optional

Put cheese in nonstick skillet over lowish heat. After
it melts and browns nicely on the bottom, flip it and
let it brown lightly on the other side. Sprinkle with
seasonings. Roll up like an omelet and serve. This
should be crisp-chewy - if it's not, adjust the timing
accordingly next time.
