Not sure. It was outside Palmer, Alaska, between the
Chugach and I think the Talkeetna ranges. A beautiful
place, but beware the wildlife.

Back in my day, the names of drugs were composed according
to a set of rules - whose idea these rules were and who
enforced them and how I've no idea. When you heard a name,
you'd know if it was medicine or a new model of car or a
laundry detergent. Nowadays, not so easy.

I was referring to the pocketbook in the metonymic sense.
One of the things we're doing is treating Ian and Jacquie
to a fancy meal, and I am looking to spend at least E50 a
head and possibly considerably more counting wine. This
isn't being a cheap trip.

Har har. The whole of southeast Alaska is built on
an existing fault. That seems to explain a lot.

I'm not sure what Mme. Benoit was trying to say. Perhaps
there should be an "and" after the potatoes.

Wedding Soup
cat: odd, okay
servings: 4 to 6

1/2 lb ground beef or turkey
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 sl bread, crumbled
1 TB grated parmesan cheese
1 ts onion powder [RH -use a whole real onion, minced]
5 3/4 c chicken broth [original says canned]
1 1/4 c (10 oz pk) frozen chopped spinach
- thawed and squeezed dry
- [or the same weight in fresh escarole to be authentic]
1 c finely diced carrot
1 ts dried parsley flakes [or a few TBs of the real stuff]
1/2 c (about 3 oz) Orzo, uncooked
Grated Parmesan cheese, optional [heh...]

In a medium bowl, combine meat, bread, egg, Parmesan cheese
and onion powder; shape into 1/2" balls. In large saucepan,
heat broth to boiling; add meatballs, spinach, carrot,
parsley and pasta. Cook 8 to 10 min or until pasta is
tender. Serve garnished with Parmesan cheese, if desired.
