I don't drink much alcohol at all. Once in a great while or on a special
occasion - such as my brother's double retirement celebration (Pipe-fitters and
school board both). And I cook with it but seldom. I have tried making some
recipes that call for beer - and find them either nasty or the beer makes no
difference to the finished product as far as my taster can tell.

Wine is a different proposition - but, still, it's a seldom thing with me.

Back in the day - when Frank Sinatra (for whatever reason) was a proponent of
Jack Daniel's Black Label whiskey and when my brother returned to the real
world from Vietnam he and I opened a bottle of the stuff. After a single nasty
sip I left the rest of the jug with him. It's harsh, very harsh. Called sippin'
whiskey mostly, I think, because if you knock back a shot it will rip your
throat out or something.

Not everyone is as wise as we on these things, though.   Bv)=  I'd probably use
my no-cumin rub as I usually have some of that on hand.

      Yield: 1 servings
 
      8    Parts paprika
      3    Parts cayenne
      5    Parts black pepper
      6    Parts garlic granules
      3    Parts onion granules
      6    Parts salt
      7    Parts dried oregano
      7    Parts dried thyme
 
  (no cumin - good for fish and poultry)
  
  Combine all the ingredients in a mixing bowl. Blend well.
  Can be stored in an airtight container in your spice
  cabinet for up to 3 months.
