To be a bit more precise, that 48+ wasn't driving, or at least most of
it wasn't... it was just hours without sleep...  generally when "on
duty" with friends in need, mostly hospital stuff...   As for non-stop
driving, all I factor in are the petrol/potty breaks... I don't stop for
food or coffee (well, in my case caffeine), just have them in the car
for nibbling and sipping, to minimize need for potty breaks... ;)

Ah.  :)  Understood... although I didn't deal so much in doing things
for the bragging rights... (G)   Just the more esoteric ones of doing
long trips in general solo (not a common thing for a woman to do, back
then) or with a small child in tow (ditto)...

That is, you takes your nap when you arrive and have the downtime
waiting for the receiver anyway, eh...?   By the time I did the
Rochester to Raleigh trip, my next-door ld trucking neighbor was
complaining that regulations wouldn't let him do what I was planning to
do, driving 12 hours straight (actually it turned out to be closer to
10, IIRC).  But if you stopped for food, that would probably give a long
enough break to meet the regs, I'd guess...  :)
