======================
Hi Nancy,

NB> bargain area at Lowe's quite often. NB>> Sounds like you are
NB> expecting to spend another winter in Wake Forest,

RH> At this point we're not sure. Depends on how the job search goes. We
RH> could use up the meat relatively fast if he finds something but had a
RH> bit of a time lag before moving.

NB> In the meantime, it doesn't hurt to be provisioning for the winter
NB> while the getting is good, just in case... :) As long as you expect
NB> to be able to use it and not have to waste it... ;)

No problem using it up unless we get a call in the next month or so.
Probably a couple of months from now we'll be looking at an empty-ish
freezer unless we restock big time.

NB> NB>> then... :) Apparently the Lowe's bargain area has had lots of
NB> beef, NB>> there, too... Lately, I haven't seen much going on Quick
NB> Sale at NB>> Wegmans, either I'm not shopping the right day/time, or
NB> they just NB>> aren't needing to put it on sale to move it... :)

RH> Between the bargain area and good sales otherwise, we've gotten a good
RH> bit. A couple of weeks ago they had a "Fill the bag, 25% off all that
RH> fits in" sale. We got the ground beef for the Life Group meal, some
RH> cold cuts and a couple of roasts. Could have put more in but decided
 RH> to hold off.

NB> No need to be greedy... ;)

No, and save money for later in the month purchases.

NB> NB>> Now I tend to keep more only mental lists, too... occasionally I

RH> Most of the time I do a written grocery list. Since we used to do the
RH> big shopping once a month, it got quite lengthy. I do food items on
RH> the left side; non food like paper towels, vitamins, cleaners, etc on
RH> the right. At times I've also indicated if I have a coupon for an item
RH> on the list but since I don't have as many coupons any more (none from
RH> the commissary, used to get a lot to use only there), I've stopped
 RH> doing that.

NB> When we were shopping for other households besides just our own, I'd
NB> have fairly comprehensive lists for the other households, so as not to
NB> forget something important... I'd try to write them out in "store
NB> order" to help streamline the process... sometimes I'd note "coupon"
NB> as a reminder, since I'd keep the different sets of those
 separate, too..

That must have been fun, juggling multiple lists and purchase orders.
Were they all satisfied with the same brands basically or did you have
to buy Brand X for one person, Brand Y for another?

NB> :) Nowadays, it's just us, and I'll pull out coupons that I expect to

I keep my coupons in a small bill file type thing. Used to have a box
but left it in a buggy in one of the stores here a few years ago & it
never resurfaced.

NB> use, and have them as part of my informal "list"... Since we shop
NB> pretty much weekly, the list doesn't get too involved normally...
 :)

Steve would rather I do a list any time it gets over 2 items. Helped
today, as I gave him the list (4 items) as I took care of something
else.

NB> NB>> I still make lists for what I want to bring for food for family
NB> NB>> camping, since I try to bring just what I need for that week,
NB> and NB>> don't want to be missing any ingredients... ;)

RH> I can understand; it's harder to just run out for a can of this, a
RH> carton of that while camping. (G)

NB> For sure! ;) If I do misjudge, or forget something, though, there's
NB> usually someone else that needs to go out to the market for things, so
NB> I can usually get them to grab it for me... ;)

That's usually the way things work, and with family, even more so.

RH> Just as a memory jogger--these pants need a hem, those a button. This
RH> skirt needs taking in, use this fabric for a diaper bag sort of list.

NB> And a little pinned note could serve the purpose as well.. :)

Using up all of my pins? (G)

RH> (Later--the pants that needed to have a seam resewn--taken out in
RH> anticipation of alteration--have now been finished and moved to the
RH> donations bag. I also got buttons sewn on a new shirt for me, just
RH> have to add some sparkly crystals.)

 NB> Atta girl... ;)

But I have cut out a couple of shirts for Santa since then. I'm going to
take another week to work on projects for me, then start working on his
shirts. Having them pre cut will make sewing go faster.

NB> NB>> Ah. And maybe there will be something smaller at the Sharing
NB> Shop to NB>> bring home with you... ;)

RH> They've gone to using an ID card swipe on a computer for signing in.
RH> Our ID cards didn't scan last time since we're not active students so
RH> we're not "shopping" over there. Still checking for computers for Steve
RH> to refurbish and making donations tho.

NB> I'd forgotten that the Sharing Shop was part of the college rather
NB> than of the church... :)

No problem, a lot of folks in our church use it as we've got quite a few
families in either the seminary or college. it's not uncommon to see
someone from church over there.

Catch you later,
