===================
Hi Nancy,

NB> NB>> Sunday seem to get more of a Sunday after church crowd than
 NB> others...

RH> It seems like this is THE place to go in WF for Sunday dinner. (G) Our
RH> pastor's wife's parents like it so much that one time when her mom
RH> came up, they had to go. A couple of days later, her dad came up and
 RH> they went again. (G)

NB> Proximity to your church could make it a favorite for them, too... ;)
NB> Here, there are lots of places people can go... and a number of the
NB> chains clearly have full parking lots.... (G)

It's near our current church building but IIRC, this was before we
moved. We were meeting in North Raleigh, about 15 minutes away but this
occurred during the week. Since we have lunch with our life group, I
don't know were members scatter to after services. I hear some talk but
don't pay that much attention--seems to be mostly quick serve (but not
always fast food) places. Then too, we've got a fairly young
congregation for the most part.

 NB> NB>> Some of
NB> NB>> them tend to arrive about when we are halfway or more through
NB> our NB>> meal, so obviously their services are even longer than
 NB> ours... ;)

RH> Or a later starting time. We start at 10:45, finish somewhat around
RH> noon, give or take, usually on the later side instead of the earlier.
RH> But, unless there's something extra going on like a business meeting,
 RH> we're done by 12:30.

NB> We generally finish by something after Noon... Sermon usually goes to
NB> quarter after or so... generally we don't figure to be anywhere to eat
NB> before one or later... :) When we meet friends from a different
NB> church for lunch, we generally aim for 1:15, and sometimes don't quite
NB> make it even then... ;) 11:00 is pretty standard starting time
 NB> around here

So you've got travel time built in if needs be, to meet friends. 11:00
seems to be a fairly standard starting time but most of the Southern
Baptist congregations w've been in start at 10:45. In Berlin, since we
shared space with a German Baptist congregation, we had Sunday School
start at 10:45 (in a nearby school), then worship started at noon.
Definately a later mid day meal, especially when we had to use the bus
to get there/back.

NB> for most churches, unless they get started even earlier... or have
NB> multiple services, in which case the second/last morning service still
 NB> is generally at 11....

In HI we had a traditional service at 7:00, youth service and first
Sunday School at 8:15. Another traditional service and second Sunday
School started at 9:30, followed by a contemporary style service at
10:45. Then at noon, the Philippino congregation took over. Our church
had Discipleship Training at 6 (think Sunday School with elective
classes), followed by worship at 7. After that, a number of us whould
usually head to a local fast food place for another hour or so of
fellowship and food.

NB> the pond and RH>> we can get to it?
NB> NB>> It's the one I know best, from having driven by it for so
NB> long... NB>> starting when it was still only Camp Drum... :) If you
 NB> do come up to

RH> I used to know it as Camp Drum too. Years ago, watching a NY Mets game
RH> on tv, one of the broadcasters said something about one of the players
RH> doing his annual reserve duty at "Camp Drunk; I mean Drum". Wonder how
RH> close to accurate his slip of the tongue was. (G)

NB> Dunno... May have more to do with the broadcaster's state of mind
NB> than that of the facility... ;) I've never known it to have that
NB> sort of a rep in all the time I've been in the vicinity... and even
 NB> where our
NB> property is isn't that far away, so some scuttle would have probably

I don't know that much about it except it's home to the 10th Mountain
Division.

NB> reached us at some time or other... ;) We're close enough to have
NB> flyovers by the military planes out on maneuvers... :)

Can't escape that around most military installations. One thing I
noticed about WF was the lack of air traffic--after living on/near posts
for so long, I got used to it. Now it's almost quiet--we are fairly near
a busy fire station tho. (G)

NB> NB>> another picnic on the Pond, you'll most likely drive right by
NB> the NB>> Drum... :) All the normal routes at least skirt it in some
NB> NB>> fashion... and as I mentioned, 3A (the thru route for route 3
NB> past NB>> Carthage) actually crosses part of it.. :)

RH> And we can go in to shop at the PX & commissary if we want/need to.

NB> True. You'd want to do it on your way in, though... although close in
NB> some ways, it's still a good hour and a half drive away from the
NB> destination... ;) Or do it on your way out, if for items not for
 NB> the picnic... :)

We may get up there eventually, but right now (for obvious reasons) our
travels are just between the Catskills and western NY.

Catch you later,
Ruth
