That kind of makes sense to me.

Now that I think about it, I have aspects of my father
and my grandfather on my mother's side, both of whom
did more travel than the norm. Aside from the fact that
he was a diplomat and I am quite otherwise, I'm most
like my grandfather - wandering around the world for
most of his life, doing things he considered worthwhile
but of dubious value to the untrained observer, living
quite comfortably while seldom having two yuan that he
could rub together. (Second) cousin Sy once exploded,
saying that my grandfather was a ne'er do well and
survived only on loans from Sy's father (my grandfather's
brother), who worked hard and made an incredible amount
of money. In my case, it's a string of small inheritances,
but the concept is the same.

For me not an allure and the lack thereof but rather an allure
and an anti-allure.

Pretty much - five short flights, three in first, punctuated
by a polite but bizarre screening where my private parts were
tested for chemicals. I figure it couldn't be an explosives
check but rather a drug check, as in recent months I have been
visiting places famous for psychotropic substances. I am quite
convinced that the TSA is being used for jobs that it is not
authorized to do, but if I do a substantial amount of fussing
about it, bam, no fly list for me. Though my rights are being
violated more than the average person's, the inconvenience is
actually not all that great, because in general I don't care.

Tenderloin with sesame sauce
categories: fancy, silly, airline, main
Serves: 2

6 (2 oz each) beef tenderloin medallions
1/2 c mixed baby greens
1 ts extra virgin olive oil
1/2 ts fresh lime juice
Salt and pepper to taste
1 ts extra virgin olive oil
1 c sticky barley rice
2 ts micro soya bean sprouts
h - For the sesame sauce
1/2 ts finely chopped onions
1/2 ts finely chopped garlic
1/2 ts white sesame seeds
3 Tb beef gravy
1 ts manuka honey
1/2 ts sesame oil

Beef tenderloin medallions Nubiani with sesame sauce
on barley rice and soya bean sprouts

Season the beef medallions with salt and pepper and
pan sear on both sides quickly until cooked medium.
Mix the baby greens with olive oil, lime juice,
salt, and pepper.

Combine all sauce ingredients in a pan and reduce
by one third. Season to taste.

PRESENTATION: Heat the rice in a microwave. Place
rice in the center of plate. Arrange the beef
medallions atop the rice. Garnish with the micro
sprouts. Place dressed baby greens alongside the
beef. Drizzle the plate with sesame sauce.
