Yeah, that too...  And so he didn't last there, but went back to a
church position...

Lots of possibilities... and, hard to really go back there and find out
for sure...  :)  And we also know that we lost some of his music because
the scores were literally recycled... as waste paper...  ;0

I read an article about that in Listen (Summer 2013 issue)... dug it out
tonight... apparently Nikita was in attendance and joined in the
adulation... and he did both Tchaikovsky #1 and the Rach #3...

He only died last year, in Feb (obituary in the Washington Post on the
27th)... this article was an appreciation of him by the editor of the
magazine...  And, as he was a Texan, not surprising that his own
International Piano Competition (held every 4 years) is held in Fort
Worth...  :)
