Truth or dare?

There is this dog owner in the neighborhood who,
according to my brother, encourages his beast to
poop on our front lawn. So my brother put up a
No Trespassing sign, which he told me was meant
for the dog, who, he admitted, "actually can't
read." Well, that might have been okay, if the
owner actually encouraged the dog to do his
business here and if the owner would actually be
dissuaded from doing so by a sign. It is unclear
whether the dog is on leash or (illegally) off.

So. The kid put the sign up where the dog poops,
about 10-15 feet inside the property, fine, who
cares.

So. He asks me yesterday, did you notice the
sign is gone? Well, no, I'm here once a month,
and I don't keep track of the junk in the front,
which includes a traffic cone to alert people and
perhaps other species of a deformation of perhaps
an inch, 1 1/2 tops, of the concrete path to the
front door, because of a tree root. Also assorted
trash cans and recycle bins, which I dutifully take
to their respective homes when I arrive. Also
newspapers (no subscriptions, but rather freebies)
often litter the front.

So. This is the story, and I don't know how much
to believe and how much is a hyperactive
imagination and how much is just plain psychosis.

A few days ago, the kid hears this commotion
out front - the dog is growling and carrying on,
and at length there's this clanking metal noise,
and lo and behold, when he looks out the window,
he sees the dog scampering off in the distance
and the sign missing. I am not completely certain
if the dog ate the sign (probably not, but that's
what Jonathan says he thought happened) or if he
just carried it off or if there was some rational
being masterminding this dastardly act or even
performing it under cover of canine or if the kid
is just making up stuff knowingly or unknowingly.

Anyhow, that was slightly hilarious when he brought
it up, but it's causing my head to pound right now
just thinking about it, and the pre-migraine is
happening right now. This time the herald is aural
- a loud chirping noise that goes from ear to ear.
No visual mess yet, though I can feel it coming.
Magnesium and Vitamin B time - I've had my blockers
too recently to repeat the dose.

Sauteed Calf's Liver with Red Wine Vinegar
categories: offal, main, Italian
servings: 2; can be doubled

12 oz calf's liver, sliced 1/4"
all purpose flour
1 1/2 Tb butter
1 lg garlic clove, minced
1/4 c canned beef broth
1 1/2 Tb red wine vinegar
2 Tb chopped fresh parsley

A popular entree in Tuscany, and throughout Italy.
Our quick version would go well with tagliatelle
with herbed tomato sauce and steamed baby zucchini
(lies). Offer biscotti and Vin Santo (Tuscan
dessert wine) afterward.

Sprinkle liver with salt and pepper; dust with
flour. Melt butter in heavy large skillet over
medium-high heat. Add liver and saute until crisp
and golden, about 3 min per side for medium.
Transfer liver to plates. Add garlic to skillet;
stir 30 sec. Add broth and vinegar and boil 1 min,
scraping up browned bits. Season sauce with salt
and pepper. Spoon sauce over liver; sprinkle with
parsley.
